Bozz:
The windscreen is no problem. MMC works with a really high end plastics group (aircraft windscreens etc) that is also doing some molding for our slightly curved Cobra truck "Boat" windscreen. We need the faring to design & build it for correct fit, but it is one of our lowest concerns as the development / manufacturing time for them will be minimal compaired to (and using the) Faring. Keep it up with the 3d modeling, it is a really good way to go, especially if nobody ponys up a mk1 soon.

Kwaka Kid: Any ideas on combining the mk1 correct look with the motor saving air passage of the mk3? I know that MMC takes pride in removing "Defects" from their part designs when redeveloping them, but also try to maintain the integrity of the "Move Correct" look. If anyone can make that sort of modifiaction work it would be their designers. Suggestions?

Hey Kid,

I have heard that as well about the original Movie bike, but I was not sure if it was a direct product of the fairing or the crossing exhaust.

Looking at the exhaust I can certainly see how crossing 2 pipes directly in front of the central air channel (damn narrow it is too) could be a liability.

Do you know if the issue was mainly with the lower or upper?

The changes in the lower through the generations are nice and obvious, while the upper changes are less pronounced.

One of the advantages we have now-a-days with a computer model is computational fluid dynamics simulations.

We can actually test the airflow in the computer before anything is printed out.

Ain't computers neat?

Any dirt you have (heard or experienced since you are one of the few to ride with one) would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

-Bozz

G'day there guys,it might be your lucky day.
I currently have in my possesion (what is alleged to be) the front fairing from the drop bike from the movie.Apparently one of the camera crew had a bike and was given the fairing after filming was completed. The fairing was somewhat damaged after filming( as you can well imagine after sliding along the ground and then dinged into an XM falcon ute).As acconsequence the damaged section of fairing was cut off and the opposing side rounded off/shaped to match. Before you panic too much this was only the lower part of the fairing(as evidenced in the film). This can be verified by Mark Kemp
I have no reason to doubt what I have been informed- why would you bother bullshitting if it wasn't true?! To me it looks the same as the ones used on the Goose+ Toecutters Bikes (although I am more into the cars than the bikes in the movie-as I have all the moulds for the Pursuit Special and the Interceptor/Pursuit four doors).
Anyway, let me know what you think- I hope this helps,
Yours sincerely,
Steve.
See you on the roads !!!

Do you have any pictures you can share? If nothing else, it would be interesting to see.

I hope the MMC guys are reading.

Those of you with genuine fairings (or pieces) if you can indeed help MMC we will be forever grateful.

I have only started my digital modeling effort due to a lack of other options.

For the sake of us clods who don't yet have the fairing, let's work together!!!

Cheers,

I am definately reading.
Ross: You have Mail, lets talk.

Steve: How about the official MMC faring (partly) moulded from the faring used in the film!?!? (we would of certianly ad back in the removed sections to the new part). Check your PMs.

We are making good (if slow) progress hand sculpting a new part, but having an original to make a master casting from would speed things up greatly, and assure accuracy.

We have many of our connections scouting for an original MK1 (should have done this 10 years ago) to buy or borrow. I know that the official "reward" offer to a loaning owners is this: Your original part back in the condition we recieved it, as well as a FREE bodykit from the new moulds (and the heartwarming feeling of having helped out all of the Mad Max fans and Vintage Bike guys who need this part).

I know. If you are reading this and have one on your sweet finished Goose replica, you might cringe to think of loaning it out for a week or 2, but just think how bad it would be if you wiped out and needed a new one, and their has not been a mould taken yet....... (makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up eh? Now having a spare in the garage sounds pretty good).

Anyway if no one finds the heart to share a MK1, we will build it using a master from a similar model, or fully sculpt it by hand if needed, it will just take longer.
