Id say they were Marauders and stumbled along the refinery as it was clearly visible from road, Pappagallo did mention they they vermin just arrived one day! They must have travelled up the highways a bit like Toecutters gang!


Also to contradict myself regards the so called original start to the film where Max is at the farm house and Wez etc chase him it could mean that that area was their patch although we dont know how many miles the chase went on for!! also at the site of the Mack Truck there was a fire burning which means someone must have been there recently and it sure as hell wasnt the corpse in the truck that lit it!!

The Vermin, marked the trucks cattle trailer, with their warning THE VERMIN HAVE INHERITED THE EARTH. to let anyone who passed by know who did this - so i agree SCREW, that whole area was Vermin patroled i think., being a main highway and all, alot of traffic would pass through it.

Then again Rock how could Papagallo and co get past them and set up a camp? working under the presumtion that the Refinery was in an imediate area of the Mack Truck!

I think VERMIN came after the Compound was set up, but they hung around a while setting up before going off and finding the compound.


In the original script the refinery was already there, PAPPAGALLO found it and built it up with a small band.

The Mad Max spinoff I'd like to see would definately be, THE GREAT NORTHERN TRIBE. The story of the survivors after they made it to the coast. They have to battle a whole new set of vermin, Pirates in Waterworld style boats.
