........and you are entitled to your opinion Uncle. As Townsend is to his about BTD. Here is some good news - I discussed your response to my questions about BTD posted some time ago, with a couple of mates. They absolutely confirmed that BTD is a ridiculous piece of crap that bears no resemblance to its predecessors, however they did encourage me to get over the 20-odd years of bad press, and have a look myself.
I will be doing this soon, so you can consider yourself succesful in convincing me to have a look. However, be alert ( but not alarmed - a little Ozzie joke ) that I will give you my definitive opinion regarding BTD once it has been viewed. This may or may not be to your liking, but I can guarantee you that I will give you an honest opinion either way.
I do have one question - what is it about the original (and best ) that you find weak ?
well you will be hearing the opinion of a BTD 'virgin' thats for sure - I even use to turn my head away from the ads on tele all those years ago, ran away into another room, went outside and kicked the dog, anything to avoid any avoidable contact. This site, and Uncle in particular, have certainly raised my curiosity. I guess after all these years of bagging it based on other people's views its time to put prejudices aside, and find out for myself if it truly is a masterpiece or a maggotbag.
you bet ! I will be really interested to see if this Ironbar character would strike fear into the heart of Wez - I somehow doubt it , but you never know. Wez is pretty feral, and the scary thiing is that he is just a (minor) extension of the bikers that roam the uninhabited wastelands between Sydney and Melbourne !!! today, like now, 2003. God I love riding my bike
I'm glad you'll say your opinion on the masterpiece, and not a derivative judgement straight from the crappy propaganda surrounding it. I'm ready to respect your "truth" as much as I respect mine. That's a promise!
The original one was slow, not that Max-driven (it seems GOOSE is the lead character at a certain point), very few "imaginative" (M.F.P "vision" apart) and the middle was almost empty, unfocused. The final revenge was brief and unsatisfactory in terms of action, thrilling or just running time. The weakest one out of the trio --- that's just for me. Still, I love it, I love it much, but consider it a mere prologue to the greater, almost perfect sequels.
kwakka: BTD is NOT a bad movie. It's even a good movie. There are many parts that are great. But it is very different in tone from the other two. Don't let other peoples opinions sway you. You may find you like it more than the others, you wouldn't be alone. Looking foreward to your views, and while watching it, try to put all that you have herd out of your mind and judge it on it's own merits.
