Post production work is what will make or break a film. Even the best acting and filming can be ruined by bad editing. Conversely bad acting, flubbed scenes, and poor camera work can be made to look fabulous with good editing. Then there is also CGI work and other special effects to be done. Rushing a film through post will guarantee a crappy film, and that is the last thing any of us want to see. Patience young padawan. We've waited this long, what's another year.

Filming just wrapped last week and I think they are, or at least are supposed to, going back to Namibia for pick ups early next year but even if they don't there's the extensive post-production period and countless FX work on top of the 3D conversion which a good conversion can usually take up to and longer than 6 months.

In short I can't see Fury Road being a 2013 release and honestly I'd have no problems waiting till 2014 if it means a much better film at the end of the day. I mean whats another year right?

The release date has never been canceled, or pulled back or pushed forward or anything. There has never been an official announcement as to when it's happening.

Release will be in 2014 if you take this Village Roadshow Chairman address at their 2014 AGM

http://www.villageroadshow.com.au/uploa ... %20AGM.pdf

If this is accurate, it would seem as of November 15th 2012, the release is planned for 2014.
I also heard a post conversion to 3D but have no sources on that one.

Yeah it is a post-conversion job and the good ones usually take a 6 months at least. Small example being G.I Joe 2...they postponed that film by a whole year to convert it to 3D, well among other things.

I thought I could wait until 2014 but after seeing the photo of Hardy as Max that date just got a lot further away..

It's going to be a long wait but i think the end-result will be far better that way. I don't want a half-assed attempt to reboot the franchise like those shitty Star Wars prequels.
