yeah, Bladerunner has dated so badly with that Vangelis score.
Vangelis' score is an exception from all the cheezy 80's poofy hair synth pop soundtracks. And it did date a bit too!

Any kind of rock music that is within the story of the film I would accept without issue. It would make sense in the context of the narrative for wasteland people to possibly like loud, fast, nasty music. But the score, which is not a part of the fiction, should be like the previous films.

Given the descending quality of social order in the films, I would expect a classical/orchestral score and any any music involved in the story would be some version of a tribal sound.

I actually like Trent Reznor work since GHOSTS album at NIN and the Social Network and The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo soundtracks....

I've scanned the back of my LP cover. Had to do it in 4 times and than pasted the images together.
Here is the result (18,6MB)

Image
"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.

So after almost 2 years wait, we have an answer if the music in the trailer is typical of the score in the movie. Junkie XL seems to be using a modern electro style which fits but does leave me a bit disappointed that the orchestra score of the OT is missing.

What are you thoughts of the music in the trailer? Anyone more familiar with Junkie XL's work?

Junkie XL had nothing to do with the score or song in the trailer. It's all temp stuff WB used.

Junkie XL is right now in Sydney working on the score including a 68 piece string recording he did today.
