A reboot of MM2 just a crazy idea.
I would love to see MM1.5, I have alays said I'd like to know what Max (Mel) and the BoB went through before ending up in the desert.
IMO the trilogy should be 1, 1.5 & 2.

FR Could follow on from MM2. I don't see why not.

I think the movie will exist within it's own alternate Mad Max universe. As such (and unlike the 2003 version), it won't take place before, during or after any of the films. It exists as it's own thing. To me, the downside with that is we're not getting an origin story a la Mad Max 1. It looks like they're dropping Hardy's Max straight into the post-apocalypse.

Then again, maybe with the sequel they can pull a Godfather, Part 2......go back in time and show how Hardy's Max came to be the man we see in Fury Road (MFP cop, family, decaying society, tragedy), while at the same time, tell a story post-Fury Road, be it the further adventures of Max or, like GF2, those of someone else connected to him (Theron/Furiosa?). Might be difficult to pull off successfully, but would be cool to see nonetheless.

I agree - its a myth within the myth.

The retelling of events - handed down and re-contextualized each generation.
We know Miller is a fan of the Hero's Journey - well maybe this is his Legend of King Arthur.

Retooled and re-purposed for a new generation.

Concerns about Mad Max

The kusbewaringsinstansie Nacoma are concerned about possible damage that the filming of Mad Max 4 can cause to the ecologically sensitive Dorob National Park. According to Rod Braby of the organization, the local office of the Ministry of Environment and Tourism apparently approved filming at 20 sites in the area. "The issue is not at our regular meetings to discuss and there is no way looked at the impact on the environment can have", he said. "We are not in the matter known and we have so far no reply to our inquiries received."

According to what Braby could ascertain, the South African company Moonlighting Film Production Services is involved in the filming. "The company had other productions previously here and they worked the fields they used satisfactorily repaired. The impact was not great and the area was also not a national park. " He said Nacoma worried because there are no approved regulations exist for filming in the area. "Although specific areas identified for filming is Nacoma not sure which areas are the Ministry for the filming of Mad Max has been approved. We can not say whether sensitive areas or not. " He said to the proclamation of the Dorob National Park and the great falls of rain in the area, the central Namib involved in ecological field repair. "The Swakop River cruising such excellent now that it may no cars around anymore. Nacoma says no way is it bad that filming is done in the area. But we must be very judicious about what kind of movies will be shot in the ecologically sensitive area."

Braby said the stakeholders in environment and tourism as well as representatives of the Ministry Thursday will come for an evaluation meeting. He expressed the hope that it answers Nacoma's concerns. Dorob The National Park stretches along the entire Namibian coastline and is one of the largest protected areas in the world.

This word got not translated. But because South African is derived from dutch I'm able to translate it.
This word means: coastline preserving agency.

They are worried that the coastline will be damaged during filming of those car chases.
"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.

Ah. That quashes that idea then. Obviously all happening in Namibia as announced, and nothing left here unfortunately. Maybe I was just getting my hopes up.

The sad thing is that after filming, it is likely that the cars/trucks will be left in SA as wrecks. If it was shot in Oz, the fans could rescue them and rebuild them.

Is the desert ready for Mad Max?

By: JANA-MARI SMITH

Amidst rife speculation and reams of internet reports that the fourth 'Mad Max' movie is set to begin filming in the Namib Desert in April, the Environment Ministry this week denied any knowledge of such plans.

“We have no information whatsoever about it,” Dr Kalumbi Shangula, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, said yesterday.

He said he had read reports in the media about the filming of ‘Mad Max’ but his ministry has not received any request for permission to film in the Dorob National Park.

But sources at Swakopmund say the ministry’s office there has confirmed that the go-ahead has been given already and that plans are forging ahead for filming to begin.

According to speculation, the filming would originally have taken place in Australia. However, after heavy rains there, the Mad Max team decided to head to Namibia’s recently proclaimed Dorob National Park along the coast.

News of this alarmed the conservation community, who voiced concern about the possible environmental impacts on the park if the activities of the film crew are not tightly monitored.

Rod Braby, the coordinator of the Namibian Coast Conservation and Management (NACOMA) project, said that should the film crew apply to film in the national park, an environmental impact assessment (EIA) must be done beforehand, in line with Namibian policy.

“It should go through an EIA and public consultation,” he advised.

Braby explained that there are “areas zoned for filming in the Dorob National Park and generally filming rehabilitates satisfactorily. Our concerns are that this type of film could be using explosives, and a proper EIA should be conducted for a potentially high-impact movie”.

According to an online report, the movie “is a big-budget deal that's got 130 cars and bikes and 298 stunts”.

Braby added that so far the ministry’s office at the coast has not been able to comment on the issue.

He said if the film goes ahead, it would be advisable for local film companies to be called upon to assist, as they have experience working alongside the ministry ensuring that the environment in which the filming takes place is minimally disturbed and decently rehabilitated afterwards.

Maybe one of the appeals of filming in Namibia is that they've agreed to participate in a massive misinformation campaign.

I remember a few years ago seeing pics leaked from Indiana Jones 4 plus a crewmember went to jail for stealing a harddrive of material with intent to sell. Also, I remember the Indiana Jones 4 website opened up about 6 months before the movie release and they did a very clever, step by step approach of building buzz for the movie. About every week or so they'd add a little tidbit here, a little tidbit there, etc. Same thing for probably a lot of other movie websites.

Nowadays they they have to take extreme steps to control the film set. So many fans, so easy to post and get viewed worldwide in less than a few seconds, minutes, hours whatever. The less we see or know the better, right?
You will ride eternal, shiny and chrome!
