I'd almost forgotten that Tom Hardy was in INCEPTION until the trailer line "just dream of a bigger gun" gag reminded me.

It appears Hardy is in back in London. He said a few words about Fury Road at the Inception premiere there.

British actor Tom Hardy has spoken to MTV News about playing the title role in Mad Max 4.

The young star appears in Christopher Nolan’s Inception but will next be off to Australia to take on the iconic character, last seen at cinemas in 1985.

At the Inception premiere last night he said: “I'm not really allowed to tell you… but I've just got back from Australia, I've seen all the vehicles, they look incredible again.

“It'll be a movie that is very narrative strong, story strong with a lot of action as well, back in the leathers!”

Mad Max: Fury Road is being made by the original director George Miller and is set for release in 2012.

Hardy revealed: “The action will be real as opposed to CGI and they're developing 3D cameras specifically for the job. It looks like it's going to be a combination of old school and new technology.”

Yes, this time around I don't think we have to worry about this being canned right in the middle of production - Miller's getting his second wind, it seems. If anything, this delay will give Miller time to give ever other aspect of the production and the other ones running concurrent to it another polish. He can finish principal production on Happy Feet 2, and then be well into post by the time the shooting begins proper for Fury Road, which is - I'm sure - a much more preferable and streamlined schedule.

But, with these films and Happy Feet 2 - I do hope he doesn't just end up making sequels for the rest of his career. As driven as these projects seem to be, that'd be a terrible fate for the guy.

Hardy spoke with UGO about Fury Road. This interview may have taken place earlier in the month. It's now obvious that this will be a re-imagining of the franchise, but I'm not sure what to make of what he said about "revisiting" the first two movies as opposed to the third.

Matt Patches: Your next movie, how far are you into Mad Max? Are you training for it?

Tom Hardy: The shoot is imminent and the training is present. I'm flying out to Australia to meet the cast and the crew, and I'll start looking at some more training, physical elements and look at all the models. The cars and what not. I'm ready to become invested in this world. I'm right outside of this bubble and I'm about to step into it.

Matt Patches: How does this fit into the other movies? Is it a continuation or is it a throw back to the older films?

Tom Hardy: Well obviously I can't give you any information [laughs], but needless to say, if we could draw a line between what Mad Max has become and the story of Mad Max and revisit...it's a revisit. Obviously with older fans, who've known the original for 30 years, some of them will be hard to turn. I would love to turn them, but I'm fully aware that I will take casualties in this venture but it's absolutely necessary and needs to be done, and revisited. I don't think George for one moment we are not going to look for recreating a new world and a new visit to the first two movies as opposed to the third.

There's not going to be that much CGI. Its going to be what you see is what is happening. It's a long shoot, its going to be a very human story. It will have wonderful landscapes and a very interactive, physical action too. It's a complete revisit. so come to it with a fresh pair of eyes. This is Mad Max revisited. Everybody that is involved wants it to succeed and - has been working on it for many, many, many years. He's very passionate and he's going very deep into it...in the same way Chris Nolan approached Inception. The story and narrative is more important than the big action sequences. The hybrid of the two is in a similar vein to Inception. He wants to rediscover Mad Max in this a whole new world.

And if not everyone's cup of tea, I entirely take the blame for that and not George Miller.

Matt Patches: Noooo...

Tom Hardy: It would be a fault of my own and not anything George does, or any of the cast. It's a big, old number and I want to bring it in. If you don't like, I promise to go back to the UK and apologize profusely! I feel very strong.

Matt Patches: Well now I'm even more excited!

Did he basically say that they're trying to base Fury Road on MM & RW stylistic approach rather than MMBT? I honestly have no clue what he ment by uttering those words (not a native English speaker, maybe that's the problem..)
