If it is true that Mel Gibson accepts to play in "Lethal weapon 5" and not in "Fury road", we can say that he is not only a traitor but also a fool.Stef-Man wrote:I hope. Mel actually didn't accept it, but he's apparently open-minded for a new collaboration with Donner, considering what he said in this specific interview. It's good news for Lethal Weapon fans... Frankly I don't know what to think about what we heard from Mel these days... If Mel can still do action movies, like Edge of Darkness, why don't do Fury Road? If he's lying, and all of that is part of an elaborate smokescreen, I don't understand the purpose of it. For the buzz?? I don't understand and it upsets me. But if Mel really don't do it, the continuity will be ruined and those movies will lose their whole integrity as a saga.P.F. wrote:If it is true that Mel Gibson accepts to play in "Lethal weapon 5" and not in "Fury road", we can say that he is not only a traitor but also a fool.Stef-Man wrote:I hope. I'm not sure the heat should be directed towards Mel. I think he simply has not been part of Miller's vision in rebooting the series for a new generation who have no attachment with Gibson. I'd say if Miller wanted him, he would be on board. The offer doesn't seem to be there so Mel has had no option but to be practical about his age etc. and diplomatic and gracious towards Miller in the media. That's my take on the saga so far.

not if you did it my way. of mel as max at the begining of the movie stumbling through the desert after mad max III and then cut to early parts of max's life in which hardy would be younge max it wouldn't be distracting if done right. but mel has said he's not in the movie or did you not read the articles we have?
Re: THE FINAL WORD. Mel is NOT making a cameo in FURY ROAD.
Obviously he's not in the movie. I was merely making a distinction between a situation where Mel decided to opt out on his own, something I took your statement to imply, and one in which the decision was made for him by Miller, which to me appears to be the case.lord humungus wrote:but mel has said he's not in the movie or did you not read the articles we have?

I'm actually a little surprised he has softened his stance on Lethal Weapon 5. For years, both he and Glover had been adamant that the series is finished. It will be interesting to see if Mel's upcoming collaboration with Shane Black will re-ignite anything.Stef-Man wrote:Frankly I don't know what to think about what we heard from Mel these days... As for Fury Road, I share your confusion. It is starting to sound like- as some have suggested- that he would like to return (in some capacity) but it's entirely up to Miller.

interesting thought but i doubt millers interested in a reboot. not that he has said he wouldn't but millers getting on in age and i can't imagine he has much more then one more movie left in him. if plans had gone through in 200x and we had seen the orginal it would have tied everything up with max meeting auntie emity, the feral kid all grown up and even possibility of goose coming back (remember the poll by miller a long time back?) now as it stands who knows what form this film will take it's been said it's absoluetly a sequal but with the new actor in place who looks younger this just wouldn't make much sense.

Exactly! As a Mad Max fan I can't help but see it this way. He is a traitor because LW requires more physical action than MM car-driven action, and a fool because the LW series doesn't have the same fan base as the MM movies. A new MM film comes with the creative genius of it's original director and a new LW film will probably be directed by someone of Brett Ratner's quality. If Mel takes a LW over a MM film, I'll not watch another of his movies.P.F. wrote:If it is true that Mel Gibson accepts to play in "Lethal weapon 5" and not in "Fury road", we can say that he is not only a traitor but also a fool.Stef-Man wrote:I hope.
