I can remember the first time I saw Mad Max on TV, it had the infamous American dubbed dialog. Of course, the MGM DVD allows us to watch the film either with the American dialog or the original Aussie dialog. Naturally, the Australian dialog I personally think is better throughout the film given its origins and location and I am probably in the majority here. But, there is one exception to this IMHO. I listen to the Night Rider talking on the squak box and in Aussie dialog, he sounds just like a slightly nutters Aussie next door neigbor, or maybe a nutty football fan. He doesn't sound like a maniacal killer. Now in the American version, he sounds like a real bad mutha, like a biker dude (or a heavy metal singer). Too bad they couldn't have Lemmie from Motorhead voice Night Rider.
Of course, I have to wonder if this could be why a deep voiced actor was casted to give Lord Humongus his very distinctive deep voice in Road Warrior? The voice can make it or break it afterall.
