Somewhere around Yunta, an auto scrapper's. Usually not photo worthy, but more Aussie iron than I've seen in one place at one time! Mostly old Holdens, but I did spy an old Val in the last shot.

Notice the old airstrip in shots 3 and 4. The last one is rather interesting. Apparently, someone got the idea to park an old teddy bear in a chair in the middle of nowhere. Over time, folks have added TV's, satellite dish, icebox, microwave oven, all the touches of home!LOL This is the second incarnation (notice the grave marker on the far left), the first was torched.

Arrival in Broken Hill. Note the distances between shots 3 and 4. Time/space warp anomaly perhaps?

Next time, Silverton!

Does this one look like it came straight from the film set or what? 202, extractors, open 2.5" side turnout.

Thanks, Aaron, for lettin' us live thru your experience. Dream come true for ya! The BoB I'm sure was the icing, and giving those kids the highpoint of their field trip... well... great.

I almost made the trip in the '80s, but bought a new motorcycle instead :? That bike's long-gone... shoulda' went down unda... Some day, though...

Thanks again, and keep 'em commin'

MFPmaniac wrote: Sat Jun 06, 2009 9:17 pm Well, after 2 years of planning and one near miss, I finally made it down to Australia! I unfortunately didn't have much time, so I centered on one particular area during my stay. I did the MM2 tour in and around Broken Hill and Silverton. Absolutely un-f#cking believable!

I met up with Adrian on the May 27, and ran up to BH and Silverton the following day. I was running around up there until June 2. Met up with Ian Mitchell along the way while we were there. We just took it a day at a time, and it couldn't have been planned out any better than turned out!

Here are a few pics from the pinnacles and compound area.

Lot's more to come, stay tuned!
