Finally made the journey!!!
Re: Finally made the journey!!!
Im guessing by the farkin smile on your face Aaron...That was fun

The chain in those handcuffs is high-tensile steel, it'll take you ten minutes to hack through it with this, now if your lucky ? you can hack through your ankle in five minutes. Go !
Re: Finally made the journey!!!
A great place, isnt it? Cant wait to return, too!
Re: Finally made the journey!!!
Simon, fun isn't quite the word! It's a life experience, you could say. Not sure if I'll ever top it, but I'm willing to try!
Dirk, it is quite a place! Nothing can prepare you for cresting that last rise before the lookout. It's almost like the world opens up to you. I reckon it's the closest thing to the edge of the earth you can possibly get!
Here are a few pics from the Interceptor rollover site, off Menindee Road.

This is where the Interceptor was sent over the edge (notice the anchor point).

Shots from the bottom of the ravine. The first one is us looking for bits in the dirt, second is looking up to the anchor point where the car was released, third is the bush and rock where Max hides from the baddies before everything goes boom.

A few bits from the crash site. A piece of Bondo (bog), a bit of what appears to be some type of vinyl upholstery or similar, and the last three are a bit of one of the badges from the toadie's vest (appears to be the top of an "S" from a Holden Special badge).

A few shots of me at the rollover site.

The ditch and the road where Guy Norris took a header off his bike.

Menindee Road, where the majority of the tanker chase was filmed. Also the stretch of road where the red XA pulls up to the Mack (before the windscreen and driver are blown to bits).
Got some more, but have to dig 'em out. A few more movie location shots, but also some shots of Silverton and some of the locals I've met along the way. Stay tuned!

Groovy Pics!!! Save some of the scrap and debre for us blokes who can't make the journey quite yet.

"Between them and us, there's not enough runway!"
Re: Finally made the journey!!!
As promised, here are a few more. This time from the tanker crash site, last day in Silverton (plus a shot from the front of the pub).

In the middle two shots, I'm stood right about where the tanker leaves the road. Adi is stood at the final resting place of the cab.
Although not exactly film related, I've got a few from in and around Silverton to come. Plus some of the folks I had the pleasure of meeting up with.

Here are some more. These are some of the shots I got going from Adelaide to Broken Hill. Passed a couple of old homesteads on the trip, I'm amazed just how intact some of them still are.
It may not surprise to many Aussies, but I was amazed at the slow transition of the landscape from lush green to brush to desert. I always had this image of the greenery being steady for some way in, then a short transition and then barren waste. Anybody who has toyed with taking this journey but hasn't, you need to do it. Words cannot describe it!
