Toecutterz:
That sounds cool, I am glad to see MMC is not the only one who will be producing these.
I sent an email to the "Mystery Comapny" as well just for kicks. I will wait for a reply, and to see their master pattern before I really believe.
However I do remain hopeful, compitition always makes for a better market place. It usually brings up quality and pricing for the consumer.
The Tail IS currently available in the USA and Oz for a VERY reasonable cost already (about $80 I think), so they might be wasting their time there making new moulds.
They will have a bit of trouble with A patent, LOL (in fact that statement is what makes me a bit skeptical of this new info). Most of you know what I mean............ even If you have not been around for any of the old debates about patenting & copyrighting of Parts or Art from these films......... So I wont repeat, Im sure everyone can do a little research on their own.
Hope their not re-popping the japan Fairing, we need one for a KZ1000.
Rt Green:
You are right (in a sence). The first one to get one out will get the first wave of orders......... but the company that makes the BEST QUALITY part will eventually get the lions share of the business (nobody PREFERS the 2nd best, even if they might settle). This has already proved to be true in other, similar areas.
So here is hoping the "Mystery Company" makes quality parts, somebody is bound to end up with one even if they are not first.

Re: goose fairing search continues
Yeah will see. I had met the guy on a fiberglass forum a year ago and he just emailed me out of the blue last week. Saying he had a fairing and was in process of getting it reproduced. I'll ask about the patent but i think he is doing it to protect his pattern from being molded and sold.
No reason to email me and bull shit out of the blue. He is a fiberglass guy so i trust the quality. Sent me pictures of drag racing parts he made/reproduced and they are right on point.
But i don't believe anyone at this point until i have the fairing in my garage ready to be put on bike.
Amen....

It isn't exactly, but interesting bike. Shafty.
It's in Nova Scotia, Canada.

Worth a look at least.

Re: goose fairing search continues
Here's a ray of hope...
This weekend I met a guy who's into custom designs. He's also a bike enthusiest and though he's not originally a MM fan, I showed him a pic of the bike and he showed a great interest. He's willing to work with me to produce 3D renderings of the fairing. He also has access to a 5 axis machine to hog out a buck for molds.
What I well need are any reference pictures I can get. I already have every one from the movie but if any of you have shots of other project bikes from all angles, this will be a great help too. The renderings will be judged for accuracy before any further progress is made. I can forsee that a couple levels of fairings will be produced: An "entry level" fairing - just a basic single layer fiberglass shell and a "premium" part - probably double layered with honeycomb and mounting points bonded in for all the hardware. This piece may also be carbon fiber if there's a demand for it.
I would like to discuss some points. One being accuracy vs. performance. Since there are known issues with cooling, would you all support slight changes in the design to improve air flow? Visually, it would be nearly identical. Additionally, I would probably integrate the fasteners to join the upper and lower halves for a smoother appearance unless there's a huge outcry in favor of accuracy. Actually, if anyone wishes he could simply attach screws in the proper places for appearance sake. Personnally, I prefer quality and good fit to a degree over total accuracy.
Secondly, he also has access to tubing manderal bending equipment and can produce complete exhaust systems like the ones in the movie. I would propose these be chrome plated and HPC coated on the inside to reduce the heat imparted to the engine from the crossover design.
I will continue to work with him to produce the drawings and generate a cost analysis for all parts. I'll also post progress pictures here. Just don't expect this project to be done in a month or possibly in a year. We've waited a long time already and I figure we can wait a whiloe longer for excellent results.

Re: goose fairing search continues
I don't have an actual La Parissiene fairing but it is damn close. I made the molds from the second gen and put a ton of bondo and a buttload of hours into it. I will try to post a pic of it in rough form. The front needs some work as my perspective was a bit off. I am going to rework the nose of it but the rest of it is pretty close. I know its a bad picture but it is the best I have right now.
