need beer advice

Today's is Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout. Drinking what was left in the bottle after filling my glass had an interesting taste. Taking a sip from the glass was also interesting. There was a beer taste, but it was like a ghost. After 10 min, there is a burnt taste. It also leaves a creamy film on the back of my tongue.

This time it is Ayinger with Brau Weisse(authentic Bravarian heffe-weissen). It tastes kind of beery when you're almost done swallowing it i.e. when it hits the back of your tongue. It seems to have a lot of dissovled gas and gets very fizzy when swallowing it. I didn't like it.

The last one is Young's Oatmeal Stout. Again, there isn't really any beer taste. After 10 min, it has an interesting taste.

Just a heads up. I bought some Friday, and will be drinking it starting Tuesday.

The beer I'm tried yesterday is Blue Moon Belgian-style wheat ale. It comes as a six pack of 12 oz bottles.

It has a bit of a beer taste, and a bit of a different taste also. Doing the empty mouth swish a minute or two after dinking yields an interseting result. It almost seemed fruity.

It also gave me a soda-style nose burn burp.

After downing that bottle, I opened another and let sit for 10 min. I didn't notice a change, except that it turned to fizz as I was swallowing it.

The third bottle didn't have much of a taste, but that just may be due to me getting a buzz.

I decided to drink the last 3 while cooking dinner. I was REALLY feeling the efects. My dinner was beef stew, and I was drinking a glass of milk with it. I could taste the beef stew, but for some reason, I couldn't taste the milk.

I told you previously that I get most of my beer at Hy-Vee. I go to the local one. Today, I went to a different one. H O L Y F U C K!!!! This one had a giant alcohol section, and had a TON of different varieties of beer. They even had a place on the shelves where you could pick 6 different bottles of a large variety of brands for a single price! They even had a walk-in cooler. I know where I'm picking up my future beers!

Guinness, anything else is just water.

Actually, I like some other beers too...lets see, Sam Adams, New Castle, Sierra Nevada (or as I like to call it Sierra's Nevada's heh heh heh), Mirror Pond, Porter, Dead Guy Ale, Arrogant Bastard Ale, there's some other local beers that are tasty up here in the Pacific Northwest. However, I can always enjoy just a plain ol Budweiser, thats from growing up in Guam where the drinkin age is 18 (I could buy beer and go to clubs even strip clubs when I was 14) and Guam just happens to be the number one importer in the world for Tabasco, Spam, Zig-Zag papers and you guessed it, Budweiser. If you grow up in Guam you will drink Budweiser like it's water, guess that's why I casually refer to lighter beers as water, not so much as criticisms but if you ask someone for water in Guam you'll get handed a Bud.

The beer I tried yesterday is Foster's Bitter Ale. I tried to pour it in a glass, but it was foaming too fast because of the way I had to pour it to avoid spillage. I did spill some though.

It does have a bitter taste as opposed to a beery taste. When doing the empty mouth swish, I only sense something at the very back of my tongue, which is where the taste buds for bitter are.

After 10 min, there is no change in taste.

This seems to have a lot of dissolved gas because I've had some large belches.

Don't panic, if you get a straw you might still be able to suck it up, hurry!
It can take awhile if your not used to a certain beer. The rule of thumb for beer is you keep drinking until it starts to taste good. Fosters is a good beer, kind of that hot sunny day afternoon kind of beer you can just guzzle down. The food you eat with beer is important. You should try eating the right foods like pretzels, chips, nuts, any rare to medium-rare red meat, jambalaya, and try putting Tobasco on everything you eat. Stay away from fruits, ....unless you drink a Mexican beer, I suppose you can throw a lime in it, but I only drink Mexican beer at Mexican restaurants....oh and Cinco De Mayo. Vegetables like bell peppers are good though.
Food is important because your really mixing the flavor up in your taste buds. The more salty & spicy your food is the more you'll balance out your taste buds for that particular beer. Go make a hot dog, put lots of relish and tobasco on it, and give that Fosters another chance

The next beer is Salvator double bock by Paulaner.

This has a prominent beer taste, yet wasn't annoying. After 10 min, there wasn't a change, except I thought I caught some other underlying taste.

Now, I'm starting to feel the effects. I don't know if that's because I only have a bit of cereal in my stomach.
