This is something that's been bouncing around in my head for a bit. The last we see or hear of the MFP is just before Max's wild roller coaster ride through hell.
Let's suppose for a moment that instead of following the story of Max, we follow one of the other officers. Perhaps through the last days of the MFP, or perhaps taking off in a blind rage and outright leaving it behind. Has anyone ever toyed with the idea of what may have become of March Hare or Big Bopper, perhaps modified in a similar fashion to to the BoB or becoming a marauder type vehicle?
Here's a scenario that might fit: Roop (being on the edge already) snaps while out on patrol, puts an end to Charlie in one of his spectacular fits, and takes off with the Big Bopper. He manages to elude the MFP and when the apocalypse comes, he tries to fend for himself. However, he gets tied up with a gang of nomads in search of the fuel.
Big Bopper has been modified as such:
-homemade ram air scoop
-nitrous kit added
-stripped out interior with large fuel cell where rear seat was
-all glass replaced with heavy metal mesh (except windscreen)
-MFP markings removed/covered/painted over
-custom sidepipes/exhaust stacks
-wheel openings cut out for larger wheel/tire combo
-front spoiler removed for clearance
There is the Fairlane police car, and also the Valiants/Chargers which some people have thought to be old Pursuit Specials. So it is feasible that some of the MFP cars may have ended up in the wasteland in some way. Anyone else have any thought on this? And would anyone think of building a "what might have been" inspired version of one of the cars?

It's a good idea for some nice fan fiction but personally I think Roop lacks the cool and control management necessary for staying alive in the Wasteland.
I'd rather write about the fate off the whole MFP (the fact that the Lair is empty when Max takes the Bob always comes to mind and offcourse the supposed deleted scene where the Toecutter gang murder the MFP officers)
Here I am tryin' to make sence out of it when I know there isn't any.

Wasted, perhaps Roop doesn't have the best odds for Wasteland survival. But it's more about how the cars themselves might have evolved if they survived the fall of civilization, even if the officers did not. As you said, the lair appears empty when Max takes off in the BoB. But even if the officers had been eliminated, the cars were still in the carpark. I'd think if someone stumbled upon them after the chaos, they might still be deemed useful.

It looks like to me people mostly banded together, and while adding stuff like air guns and welded metal for added protection I have not seen a single car with an auxiliary fuel tank such as the BoB.
But I bet that if you would open any trunk you'd find a lot of jerry cans for when they did find a fuel source. You'd want to take as much as possible, and leave nothing behind.
Another funny thing, the choice for gasoline as primary fuel in a wasteland scenario is daft, especially in that time era. The non turbo diesel engines where pretty crude back then, and require no retrofitting to run on waste oils such as chip-fat, or even off the shelve vegetable oil. Granted you'd need to take the particles out and check the filters more often, but still. You'd have more options than sticking to just the high grade refined stuff. Guzzoline engines can be made to run on alcohol, methane and those sort of things. But that requires extensive tinkering. So that is why I say: In the wastelands, you'd have more chance to survive from (for instance) an old merc 250 diesel. And the engine would outlast the guzzoline powered engines to boot. The one problem is speed... So better have it armed and ready... because outrunning people who drive guzzoline powered cars won't be possible. Or better yet, ban together with your local diesel buddies and become a force to reckon with. It's always better to ride in packs. That goes for bikers now, and it goes double for your average run of the mill apocalypse scenario.

Ya, the basic rule there is "strength in numbers". Max is an exception to the rule as a loner. Because he had speed he was able to survive. MFP officers would be natural take charge kind of guys and become leaders in a group. We know a few Bad Cops were able to survive.

mythbusters proved that they will run on vegetable oil. the only difference is the refining, it all comes from plants originally, even high grade crude. LOL\
sounds like MFPmaniac hit the point, the way it would be modified. maybe the yellow would make them too visible a target and none survived.

MFPManiac- Hey that sounds like a great model project... I have a car that might work for that...

That would be awesome, I'd kinda like to see how it would turn out!
aussie muscle, that would be the only downfall I could see is the visibility of the yellow. Perhaps keep the blue and red lower body colors and do the rest in gray or black?
