I have this particualr thread going on 3 different db's.
I'm 99.44% sure the Chinese beer was Tingtao.
As an american bred with 3% budweiser, you are starting at the really bottom. You will find a beer like Het Kapittel at 12% alcohol to be quite strong (and it is)
I'm not trying to get drunk off it, but of course I don't want a non-alc. My quest is to find a beer that doesn't taste like the regular US stuff. I don't know how better to put it than in my original post.
What I really need is a beer conissouer to sample beers with so I can know what I'm talking about.
Micro-brewerie is the best to go. It is more expensive, but it is worth it and you promote your local culture.
We do have the Boulevard Brewing Company here. The 2 grocery stores I visited didn't have it for some reason. Besides the 2 grocery stores, we have 1-3 stip mall liquor stores. There's another place that is a local chain that is more wine-oriented.
I'm going to buy it Thursday, so I'll probably see this thread once more tomorrow.

I've been told that "real" Aussies don't drink Fosters. I've had my share, after the 1st one it doesn't matter what it tastes like. I've prolly got a few emptys on the shelf in the garage. People kinda freak when they see the size of the can.
I'd sure like recomendations for "good" Aussie beer.

Domestic Fosters cans are standard 375ml size, The export Fosters cans are huge. I saw a UK version and it looked like it was 1litre

Not many people actually like the taste of Fosters (me Included)..tastes a bit like drinking your own bathwater....and has similar effects on its drinkers!
The worst i've ever drunk was a specialty beer called "Canetoad Larger" it had an 8% alchohol content but I couldn't get drunk on it 'cause the taste was so bad I kept spewing it up!

Yup, those big @$$ cans are imported to the US too. Reminds me of when oil came in a can.
Canetoad Lager eh? Naming a beer after a poisonous frog should have been a warning sign!

If you want to get drunk, you should look for one particular type of Grolsch. Grolsch is Dutch beer. One of the sorts they have is "het kanon" That means "the cannon". It is 11.6% alcohol. But outside the Netherlands it is mostly cald something else.Quote: Originally posted by OverheadCam on 30 August 2006

"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.

I was introduced to Grolsch by a bunch of Dutch Engineers I worked for when I was just out of school (company by the name of "OutoKompuMintec"...funny name...but they're bigger than CocaCola). It was popular cause the swing top bottle made it great for resealing your own home brew...and they were 1/2Litre bottles. They also introduced me to "Finlandia Vodka"...whooh Nelly....that's a whole other story!!Quote: Originally posted by Nightwalker on 30 August 2006

At the liquor store and grocery store, most of the other beers are ales. There were some other varieties, but they came in bigger bottles.
I went with Samuel Adams Cream Stout. I don't feel like having any tonight, so I'll give a report tomorrow.

Ummm.. Why?
I mean, Most beers do taste better from the tap, but that'd pretty much lock you down to their Location.
Say you wish to drink at home, at friends' or on a picnic or whatever?
