Avoid ANYTHING made by Mitsubishi before 2000.[/i]
(Yes, that 2.2 in that Omni is a Mitsu)
...that's right..but all the early OMNI bodystyles ( Dodge Charger 2.2 ) had a 2.2 Volkswagen block that would also lay down good e.t's when turboed and often times outlasted the crappy body.. the first GHLS's were done by SHELBY for this bodystyle..yeah , the Omni..was GONNA be a sports car....at one time
I actually typed a blurb in there regarding that, but decided it wasn't relevant. (I was knocking the mitsu motor y'know)
Keep in mind I've been working with most breeds of Import since '89.
We've recently started carrying Domestics as well, so that's pretty handy.
"Go ahead and run. Run home and cry to mama! Me, I'm Through runnin'!"
I had a HEMI 426 in my '81 Plymouth Reliant K steel green stationwagon (4 cylinder, 2.6L HEMI...bad joke). I put 225,000 miles on it (school and pizza/sub delivery)and went through two transaxles before I got rid of it. The only thing that went wrong on that particular Mitzi engine was the little cresent-shaped ignition module that sat right below the distributor cap. I had to replace that about every 6 months or so. I got to the point of carrying around a couple of those $50.oo modules. That little box would actually give some of the V8's a short run for their money, but they would walk away after about a block. It was also good for "stargazing" as well in college.
I would have to say my 1987 Mustang GT 5.0L . I have had it about six years now and still love it. It is very easy to work on and speed parts are cheap for it. I have had several different 4 cylinder cars as daily drivers, and they are great for transportation. But when the weekend comes I like to pull the cover off of my Stang and hear the V8 rumble. I know there are some truly fast 4-popper cars out there, but they will never ever match the sound of an American V8!!!
....He runs in Townsville..and Charters Towers! ...He's not a pro or anything just a good mechanic..
I'm sure he wouldn't mind me posting pictures ....only I can only access this site from work (my home ISP is crap...but cheap)..and the work server won't allow me to do things like put pics onto the web...I'll see what I can do when I move to the new job...(new Computers!)
Do please tell me his name, I have a pro stock bike & also raced mod bike, My uncle runs an early corty that pulls high 7's and if your mate can run quicker than the fastest recorded doorslammer in the world ( zaps rat at WSID 5.96 @ 241mph) He should either be making a fortune or be a household name..................
