That's not what they used in the Super Stallion. That clutch was basically the same type hydraulic clutch used in automatic transmissions.





Not what the articles I have said. Regardless, several companies DO make hydro electric clutches. DARPA has a similar fluid they are testing for use in suspension technology.

Use a Big Block Ford then. I guess the lack of available fuel would have been a problem but in a Movie you can get away with whatever you want. I'm thinking that Weiand front cover in the first movie wouldn't fit on a Ford if you wanted the blower to be functional. Here's a special little number from our local police department; they race it locally as part of their PR campaign.

You really don't need one. You can easily stroke a 400 Ford out to a 434 and save 150lbs off the front of the car. A functional blower adds a lot of weight to the front already and the movie one sits much higher than normal.

According to the article I read, that's the same thing Martino said about his car. Really it's not a problem. The blower sits so high, there's no clearance issue with the distributor. You just need a remote water pump to make room for the drive belt.

There are people with much bigger brains than me on this subject; however, it doesn't seem practical with a Roots type blower. You could always just live with a fake blower. Brian can probably give you some good engine ideas for a kick-ass Ford engine. Or... why not give up on the switch and use a real blower like Mark Scarselli? A 6-71 will give plenty of boost on a 351. Gordon and Grant have a reproduction Weiand cover and Grant says that it can be used on a real blower. According to Brian, you can fit it to a Ford if you use a remote water pump; he can help you out with those details. You could use one of the new Scott EFI units to keep the movie-correct look; Grant and Gordon also have a system they have been working on.

It's not an easy task to be first at something. Some people give up too easily. You need some know-how, resources, money, willingness to take a chance, and you have to want it badly enough.

It wouldn't have been my first choice but that's what the car came with and I don't like fake stuff. If you're going to have all that hardware, it may as well do something more than make noise. Unfortunately most real blower motors are not cheap, $8-10K is not unreasonable.

Me, I'm sticking with a 460 bb bored .030" over for a 467 ci mill (Thanks 5.7) with cowl induction under the "L-88" bonnet scoop like the yellow XBGT, adding nitrous to "help" it out (with a big VIAGARA sticker on the bottle) in my XB. Then I'll build the blown 460 with nitrous as I go...


Let's really pi$$ someone off and put a FORD or CHRYSLER drivetrain in a Chevy...


The reason Chevy's are so cheap, is so that hillbillys can afford something to put up on blocks like their trailers to make it a matching set...

Like the way the Pursuit Special appeared in the promotional tour before the release of Mad Max.


In many ways it makes the car a lot more practical to drive. The blower is a huge visual obstruction and a quick way to get a ticket in many states. There's a lot of noise coming from a working blower so it's hard not to draw a lot of attention. If I could figure out an easy way to remove the blower and store it in the trunk, I'd probably keep it that way 90% of the time.

There's a guy locally who drives a Z28 Camaro with a 460. And YES, it does piss off the Chebbie guys!

Personally I couldn't care less if someone races an Aussie Falcon with a Chevy or a Camaro with a Ford; whatever gets the job done and/or floats your boat. With that said; if someone tried to put a Chevy in a Shelby Mustang; I would most likely have to shoot them.
