What I did today...

Saturday in Perth Australia.

Saturday is work on Cars day, Sunday is domestic day. But Saturday is over to the factory unit by 9:00 Am.

I did an hour or so working on the "Road Warrior".

But the weather was fine and the Big Block replica needed a drive. So I had organised the permit to drive it ($15 AUD) the day before.

The big block replica normally goes out about once a month, but the weekends of the last few weeks had been very average weather wise so it has been about 6 weeks since the last drive.

Up to the local BP in the red coupe, and I picked up 20 litres of Ultimate 98 fuel, and washed the dust off the red coupe in the servo wash bay ($4:00).

Drove the longer pathway (about 15 minute's long) back to the factory in order to dry off the coupe.

Got the big block out of its parking spot, and washed it also.

In went the 20 litres of Guzzoline. And out for about a 20 minute drive, quite a few heads twisted as the 7 and a half litres of Black on black Interceptor grumbled on by.

Got the big block onto the 6-7 Kilometres of the highway and kept a close look out for Police as the Interceptor cruised up to about 120 MPH, just a trot really.. just enough to clear it out a bit, no revs on the tacho at all really still under 4,000 in fact, at 120 MPH the cam is still not fully in.

The big block with that big cam does not really come alive till we are bit passed 120 MPH.

But this was not a thrash run, just a trot up the road.

Get the Interceptor back to the factory with out seeing any Police.

I wait for about half an hour till the Interceptor inspired rush of blood slows a bit, ( I still get a rush out of driving it, so much power and torque... awesome ) then I put the big bugger away for another month.

And wonder what the other cars were thinking as the big black thing cruised on past at about double the speed limit.

Had an Aussie meat pie and sauce for lunch, and I had the film "Trainspotting" on the DVD in the background.

At about 2:00 Pm I went back to working on the "Road Warrior"

Stopped working at about 5:00.

Drove the 1300 cc Mitsubishi Mirage back to the house... Where wife Annette is still not moving much as she had a knee reconstruction about 5 weeks ago..

We had Pizza for the evening meal.

And watched "Pirates of the Caribbean" as we ate the Pizza.

Bring on next month!
Cheers

Ordinarily, i sleep in till about 8.00, (my brain won't let me sleep any longer than that damnit!) Saturdays usually Video hiring, spending work pay, and catching up with the friends i don't work with day.

But this saturday we drove up to LAUNCESTON (3 hour drive from HOBART) to visit my sister, course it was just an excuse to test out the new van we baught on a long trip (I've christened our new van DEAD RECKONING, cause its a TOYOTA TARGO GLI. anyone thats seen LAND OF THE DEAD will know how long and pointy the front of DEAD RECKONING is, and if you know this model van their pointy man - the missus won't let me scratch the words into the side of it Damn her hyde) damn good drive, hot though, and due to all these big rains we've had down here there was marsh and little lakes all the way up that arn't usually there, on either side of the highway.

Damn near hit an echidna on the road too, was so cool to actually see one not in a National Park, had to pull over and show the kids.

And cause LAUNCESTON isn't really full of geek fanboys like HOBART is, i checked out every toy store and found all these cool figures that sold out in 2 days down in HOBART (SIN CITY, ALIEN Vs PREDATOR, DEVILS REJECTS) and cause the stores thought noone would buy them they'd all been marked down to CHEAP like the budgie. I love this dozy little town.

Cut a long day short, i let her drive DED RECKONING home, i was tired as sh*t, and ofcourse as the sun went down, the kids couldn't see their colouring books or Gameboys, so they had to start f**king around.

And how 'the f**k' come people always want to overtake a Van, we went the speed limit all the way up and back, and sometimes did a little more than the speed limit, and the limit is mostly 110 cause its just straight long highways in farming communities, yet every bastard was riding arse and over took first chance they got, we went up last year, the exact same way, exact same time of day etc. in a bloody MAGNA car and not a person over took us, or rode arse Image

Well this Saturday was a busy one...Started for me at about 2:23 AM. Neighbor was out of town and made the mistake of telling one of his employees to check on the house. Big mistake...the employee thought that meant having a party 10' from my bedroom window. Called the cops and they finally kicked everyone out about 3:30AM. Finally got back to bed about 5:00 AM. Woke up at 8:00 AM and grabbed my 10 yr. old son and he and I went and dropped two trailer tires to have new ones put on. While that was being done , we then grabbed the wife and daughter and dropped off the wife's minivan to have airbags added to tow the pop-up trailer. (Finally got rid of the big 3/4 ton Suburban!). Then the boy and I mowed ,edged and pruned the yard. Then he and I went and picked up the tires and mounted both on the camper. Then the mom-in-law drove me to the garage that was installing the airbags. Brought home the wifey's car, then washed it and my car as well. Thn began to tinker w/ the Suzuki, trying to get it to run, especialy since gas has gone up so much! (No luck though, deader than a door nail). Then took a 30 minute nap. Then dropped the kids off at mom-in-laws and met up with two of my wife's friends for dinner at a fancy Italian restaurant for my dear wife's 40th B-day celebration. Then we went to see (The 40 Year Old Virgin"- Great movie by the way! Then I took the wife home and ....(well, you can figure this part out, remember the kids spent the night at granma's)Image (left her in tears type of good!)

Ah...what a busy and productive Saturday

.Saturday.. The FIRST saturday of the 2005 NCAA Football season found me in front of the tele like a talent scout 'till after the sun went down..( why not , been watin' 8 long months ) .. seems like the absence of multi-million dollar salaries puts more heart in the game..like the kids are on a 4 year audition...

Sunday..Took the Suzuki to the dunes just north of Nellis A.F.B. for a three hour tour..the constant breeze kept the ambient temps to down around 100..refueled and rode for 2 more hours..my right leg was doin' the "sewing machine" from all the adrenaline..made it back just in time for the drop of the green flag at Fontana...

I'll be out by your town this weekend. Lets get together Tuesday. Bring Chicka-Bow and her girlfriend. Instead of ice cubes.. I like pop-rocks. Anybody got bail money in advance?
