You know, I think that Americans and Australians are a lot a like. As an American the only two countries I would think about living in would be Canda and Australia. Hey, any country that brought us AC-DC has to be a rocking place.Image






You got that right mate, Oz is just the best place to live. I have spent a very short time in Canada ( Vancouver), and found it to be a lot like here in many ways. Have not spent any time in the States, some friends of mine from Oz went there a few years ago, they delivered a car from LA to Florida - best road trip they reckon they would ever have in their lives Image


AC/DC rock !! So does Midnight Oil ( check 'em out if you haven't yet - the early stuff), also Living End, Angels ( I think they were called Angel City in the US), there are heaps of great bands here . But avoid Missy Higgins ( spew)

Aye Rose Tatttoo arent bad Ive heard bits and pieces of their stuff and I am impressed Image.


Midnight Oils clasic song Beds are Burning is a personal fav. Does all their stuff sound like that?

yeh, the Tatt's are OK, but they had their best years, well, years ago. If you like a good hard rockin' pub band, well they fit the bill, but they are a bit one-dimensional. They are currently doing their "Pension Fund Tour" around Oz at the moment - lolImage

No - Beds are Burning is a great song, and also a favourite of mine, but their best albums were the early ones ( ain't it always the way ???) - the style of the earlier albums is much more 'abrasive', 'heavy', I think musically 'raw', by the time BAB was released, they had developed more lyrically, but the music was a bit softer? around the edges.... try these albums:


Midnight Oil ( self-titled) ( #3 favourite)- released 1978


Head Injuries ( # 1 favourite) - released 1979


Bird Noises (EP) - released 1980


Place Without a Postcard - ( #2 favourite) - released 1981


10 to 1 ( also 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 ) - released 1982


Red Sails In The Sunset - released 1984


Species Deceases - EP - released 1985


Diesel and Dust - released 1986 ( Beds are Burning single from this album)


Blue Sky Mining - released 1987


Scream In Blue ( multiple Live recordings ) - released 1992. Live recordings from many years.


I have not bought any more albums released since 1992 - they have done another 5 or 6, but I do not rate them at all. However, all the early stuff up to 1985 is simply the best Australian music ever made !!! 1985-92 not too bad.......then it fell to sh*t as far as I am concerned.

Well, I am showing my age here but I saw Rose Tattoo in about 1982 opening for KISS in New Haven,CT. By the way I was born in 1961.
