Which were you first? A mad max fan or a gearhead?
I was just thinking about this today. I liked the mad max movies when I was a kid, but not near as much as I enjoy them now that I am older and enjoy spinning wrenches as a hobby. I have a huge appreciation for the old muscle cars and bikes used in the movie which makes me enjoy the story even more.
But I bet there are some people out there that were into the movies first and became a gearheads when they started trying to build replicas and such.

Max, it got me into cars, well only a little, i'd prefer an X-wing fighter
(to any car but the black interceptor)

I grew up around 18-wheelers and carried around an encyclopedia of world air power when I was 7. I heard about the Max trilogy when I was in junior high. I rented them and was hooked ever since. I think I've built about 6 different model versions prior to the Aoshima kits, and sketched probably 1000+ BoB's and other vehicles. I didn't get into cars until college and after...always like them, just not fully "into" them. I'd have to say it was a natural progression...a coming of age movie, realizing the potential power and coolness of cars...especially those funny-lookin' Mustorino's that were driven on the wrong side in the movies...

Carefull there, Uncle.. I can smell boiling tar and hear the squawk of chickens beaing de-feathered..
Quite certain I couldn't convince our more thin skinned denizens to turn the other cheek..
My dad was a VW Mechanic when I was little (Specialized in Air Cooled) But I was never much interesed in cars until I hit High School.
That's about when I first saw MM2RW.
I was Awestruck by the BoB.
Then, I was hooked. I set myself to learning.
One of the first things I learned was the car can be far more than a mere machine contrived for transportation.. But a work of ART!
