Mad Max Begins

Post by XAMan »

The release ... and success at the box office and no doubt on DVD ... of the fourth (?) film in the Batman franchise has affirmed the acceptance by audiences of the 'prequel as a sequel'.

Applying the same MO to the Mad Max trilogy there are a number of possibilities that open up:
  • the films have had a different actor playing Batman(Keaton, Keaton, Kilmer, Clooney and Bale) without any detriment to the integrity of the central character.
the technology depicted in the later films does not depend on or is limited by hat of the previous films
the 'hero' vehicle is different to varying degrees ... the vehicle in 'begins' is very much of now yet does not diminish the earlier Batmobiles.

Discuss ...

Hmmm nice idea, but if there were a prequel to Mad Max then he won't have the black Interceptor since that would be in his future along with him actually being "Mad".

Seeing him drive about in that original Interceptor, the yellow one, wouldn't be too bad a thing I suppose but Max's case book while in the MFP doesn't exactly rate on my must watch list. know what I mean? Image sounds like a dodgy series like Murder she wrote.

But I get your point and think your idea is sound. Thing is, Batman is so "out there" that anything they throw at you on the screen can be justified with enough rationalisation since it's based on comic books. Mad Max is in a league of its own and I for one wouldn't want to see some outrageous storyline foisted on me like .. like.. well some woman running a supposed trading town in the middle of nowhere without a viable food supply, clean water or sewage and relies on fueling her gangs weirdo vehicles with pig sh*t and has a two headed midget as the main tough guy and an even littler guy who lives in a train as the brains. Know what I mean?

Hang on a sec' I think I'm having deja vu Image

Never let small details get in the way of a good storey.

Could be that the BOB Interceptor was in the prequel but was badly smashed up and thought could not be rebuilt or due to abuse was banned from being used again and was supposedly destroyed (at the end of the movie of course). In MM1 the car was rebuilt for him in the garage as it was the only thing that would keep him on the force.

How about a prequel of the time between MAD MAX and THE ROAD WARRIOR??

It's that time when I really wanna know what happens to him.. and how come the interceptor looks so different (beat up) between the two movies... So there HAS to be a story there. :)

I would prefer a remake of Mad Max 1, over a prequel.

A inbetween movie about what happened during mad max 1 and 2 would be good too.

That's only a two year gap. I don't think that would work. Although, alot could happen in 2 years. A prequel between RW and Thunderdome would work because there is a 15 year gap between them.... and Max didn't look beaten up and scarred like the promoters of Thunderdome said he was. In fact, Max didn't look beaten up at all. Maybe the bad guys in Road Warrior were as tough as it gets because nobody is gonna convince me that the dudes in Thunderdome were the toughest. No way. Infact, Thunderdome was a cake walk for Max. If there is a 4th Max film and there won't be, then I wannt to see an R rating- no PG 13 bullsh*t. Max is a hero for adults. Plain and simple. He IS NOT suitable for children. Sorry little kiddies.

...and Max would have to be a teenager and the title of the film would either be called "Max" or "Before The Reign Of Mad Max". hey... that title has some spark.... spark plugs that is.....

that is the stupidest thing i have ever heard of for mad max films. even prequils. look there is no exact date given in mad max nore road warrior but techinqualy there is no location givin either (look at all 3 films never is a date nore a location flashed and thunderdomes bridge scene in the end is a technicality it's ment to seem like mad max could happen anywhere.)

but given the time of the cars in both mad max and road warrior (no real recognizable models in thunderdome.) the world ended around or just before 1980 (the mack truck and several other car modesl are 1979 vintage)

thus i hate to burst your bubble there but no fast and furious cars would ever be in mad max movie. no mad max 4 " 2 max 2 furious". so frankly the statement above is very ignorent to the time perioid of the movie. not to mention the natonatlity of the cars all most all australian fords of one time or another. so it would matter in terms of cars and weaponry what was in the film if they mad a prequil that goes double if they mad a prequil to mad max 1.

Gee thanks mate! I figure if it's the stupidist thing YOU"VE ever heard it must be pretty damn stupid.

You seem to have missed my point entirely.

And as for where I mentioned, alluded to or hinted at the Fast and The Furious type vehicle ... well just keep toking away there buddy.

Despite you willingness to dismiss the bridge scene in Thunderdome as a technicality ... and how an iconic landmark such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge could just appear in the film is a 'technicallity' is beyond reson let alone logic ...the films are clearly and unashamedly set in Australia.

Oh and you provide a contradictory arguement surey by stating that the nationality of the cars is Australian.

I suggest you reread my post ... carefully ... and if you still don't get it arrange for a twelve year old to come round and explain it to you... oh and then get yourself some manners you selfrighteous sack-o-sh*t.

You are not just rude but rude and ignorant ... the worst of all combinations surely.

Have a nice day.

Every time someone says this I want to vomit over my computer screen and destroy it so I no longer have to use it. This movie has been done and is good. Leave it alone, it's Mad Max!! We want an entirely new movie.
