Denzel in San Antonio

Don't know whether you heard about this but Denzel Washington and his

family visited the troups at Brook Army Medical Center, in San

Antonio,Texas (BAMC) the other day. This is where soldiers that have

been evacuated from Germany come to be hospitalized in the States,

especially burn victims. They have buildings there called Fisher

Houses. The Fisher House is a hotel where soldiers' families can stay,

for little or no charge, while their soldier is staying in the hospital.

BAMC has quite a few of these houses on base but as you can imagine,

they are almost completely filled most of the time.

While Denzel Washington was visiting BAMC, they gave him a tour of one

of the Fisher Houses. He asked how much one of them would cost to

build. He took his check book out and wrote a check for the full amount

right there on the spot. The soldiers overseas were amazed to hear this

story and want to get the word out to the American public, because it

warmed their hearts to hear it.

The question I have is why does Alec Baldwin, Modonna, Sean Penn and

other Hollywood types make front page news with their anti-everything

America crap and this doesn't even make page 3 in the Metro section of

any newspaper

except the base newspaper in San Antonio[/font]

Becuase 99.9% of America's media are a bunch of left wing ,liberal,anti American...... ass wipes.....its so obvious.

Good for him!

Something must have moved him to do this gesture and it wasn't the probable good PR he'd get from doing it... least I hope it's not.

Ain't it a funny old world? Something like the above happens and we think at first think: "Hey what a great and generous thing to do" then we begin to wonder if their intentions were so honourable after all and begin to suspect they're up to something else. Well at least there's another house for familes to live in while thier loved one recovers... let's just hope the house Denzel paid for actually gets built and the cash isn't swallowed up in admin charges.

Am I being too cynical?

I heard years ago of a newspaper that started to report only good things. Y'know positive, inspiring things that lift people. Like; man regains sight after undergoing surgery and sees his wife of 15 years for the first time. Or, little Joey finds his lost puppy in washing machine etc know what I mean?

Well, due to plummeting sales the newspaper was pulled very shortly after printing began and went over to the usual scare-mongering and depressing news stories instead. Seems people are more interested in reading about little Joey's mutt being drowned from being left on rinse cycle for 3 days than something that inspires the readers to see the positive things life can offer.

What a sad world we live in.

Good for you Denzel, now tell your Hollywood friends maybe they'll help out too.

That fat f**k Mikey Moore in his film Farenhite 911 covered that comparing Canada's media and America's media showing that Canada focuses less on scare doom and gloom bullsh*t and is much more positive tho it looked like he wasy trying to make one country look better than the other he actually was using Canada as an example.I quit watching the news and reading the paper as it just sucks all the life outta ya.

It's so easy to blame a 'liberal' media, but this is the same media that features Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly, Coulter, Larson, Savage, Scarborough, et.al., and was all-Monica all the time back when Mr Clinton got his flute played. Comparatively, they have given Mr. Bush a pass. Ask anyone you meet if they've heard of the "Downing St. Memo", then tell me there's a liberal media out to get the President.

When will you hard core right/left wingers give it up and realize that both sides are screwing us?

This is a great thing that Mr. Washington did. The media can't sell many papers or high rated news casts with GOOD NEWS, the bad stuff gets all of the front page ink. Anti-war or not these soldiers are just doing their job. We need to support our troops. Thank you Denzel
