Are Muscle Cars dead???
Last year back in the UK I watched a progamme called Top Gear (talks all about cars very entertaining) one of the presenters was test driving a Dodge Charger (I think) anyways with one camera filming him from the footwell and another one in the back seat, he sped up to a junction applied the brakes, as you would do on a regular car, you could see the panic on his face and his foot furiously stamping on the brake pedal to get the damn thing to stop in time. Cameraman in the back was s***ing bricks. He stopped barely. He then spoke of the pros and cons of such a car... seemed the designer of the car went for looks rather than aerodymanics and the big radiator grill acted as some sort of massive air scoop which slowed the car down considerably... still didn't stop the presenter getting glassy eyed whenever he looked at it. Jeremy Clarkson sl*gged it off terribly as I recall.
Next scene showed him measuring the car with a tape measure and said if he bought it it would be 3 foot too long for his garage.
Last I hear he bought it, the car that is not....

Now that's a muscle car;
Fast............ in staright lines
Brakes........ you need to book in advance to use.
Aerodynamics........... of a brick.
Colour...any colour you want so long as it's black.
Fuel consumption............. of an F14 Tomcat on full afterburn.
Can't think of any cars that applies to nowadays can you?

Yeah that was Richard Hammond, he ended up buying a lime green on black Charger

Saw a photo of it in a mag a few weeks back, he's since fitted a set of chrome alloys he bought in Japan to it (think Toyota Surpa in Fast and Furious style) ....have to say they actually look pretty cool on it.

You've just described that Fiat Punto the body repair shop lent me last year! .....those brakes still give me nightmares!

That was the cool thing about muscle cars they didn't rely on aerodynamics, they relied on well... muscle. Even though they were shaped like a brick when you shoved a huge big block under the hood it didn't matter. Nobody cared about how they handled, there main purpose was to get you through the 1/4 mile or from stop light to stop light faster than the guy next to you.

Once my MFP Interceptor is done, a buddy and I will take our cars down to Milan, a little ways from Detroit on amatuer night to see what she'll do. A blown 460, possibly with nitrous...12/13 sec range...????
I also want to take it to cruise Lundy's Lane on Sunday night with 5.7 in Niagara Falls...two BoB's rolling into the parking lot...and you thought ONE brings attention...we'll scare all of the little "tuna" cars away across the street with just the note of our exhaust...ahahahah!

Thanks for that link NPM, Hmmmm don't think much of those wheels even as expensive and as flashy as they are. It seems to me too, that the car sits a lot lower than normal. Why oh why did they have to do that a Charger should be just that, something poised about to charge. Not resting on the starting blocks. maybe it's just me but I like seeing a some daylight under the car.
I dunno some peoples kids. Eh?
Pretty nice colour though and the specs for it sound great. I smiled when I got the the brakes bit. I can still see the panic on his his face mashing that brake pedal to the floor LOL!
