Miller doesn't get it

Post by berserk »

George Miller said in an interview that after MM1he was trying to work out why the movie was such a success. He concluded that it was because it had a hero's revenge theme which has been proven to win the viewers affection. Bullsh*t - I say the movie was such a hit because of the sheer rawness it had. The nomad trash bikies, the real (non Hollywood) car wrecks/chases, the dialogue, the unique music. Same goes for MM2. Thunderdome however seemed to lack the rawness - it was more family-friendly. There were a couple of flashes of brilliance but perhaps the essence of MM died with Byron Kennedy.

Funny, it was just gonna be a doco on the 'Car Culture' of Australia, before he got the idea for MAD MAX. seems the 'HERO' factor was secondary.

I'm a burnt out desolate man...haunted now by the movie that might have been.
