Mel's new project is FAT MAX

I'll run with this a bit:

Fat Max 2: The Rocky Road Warrior

Fat Max: Beyond Blubberdome

Fat Max: Beyond Thunder Thighs

Fat Max 4: Curry Road

Fat Max: Beyond Extra-Large

Have i missed something? aside from MEL pretty much ignoring MAD MAX (which he's done the last 18 or so years) what else has he done wrong, why this sudden hatred toward him.

I didn't get the Anti Mel - memo.

Well, I don't hate Mel- I think- although I can't speak for the others, I just think that its not fair that Mel does four Lethal Weapons plus a possible fifth (groan) and only three Mad Max films. Despite the fact that he doesn't want to do a fourth one for whatever reasons, I have a sliver of hope that he'll change his mind. But after all, he's human. Like I said in earlier threads, get Vin Diesel or Russel Crowe to replace Mel and I bet dollars to donuts that those two actors will like to do not one more, but TWO more Mad Max films. Either sequels or remakes or both. Why not?

The reason why we're pissed off at Gibson for copping out of the Fourth Mad Max film was because maybe some of us waited for 19 years since Mad Max III for a sequel. We simply refuse to let Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome be the end. All of us wanted to see a sequel to improve what Thunderdome screwed up. We refuse to let Thunderdome be the end of Max because as far as I'm concerned, MM III was a mild adventure when compared to the other two predeccessors. Thunderdome wasn't as dark or shocking and nowhere near as violent- so in other words Mad Max had it easy- he was a Babysitter. Still, he was quite dangerous but not dangerous enough in my opinion. He should have lost one of his eyes, had his hand blown off and his leg blown apart again. That would have made things interesting and, by far, realistic.

If FOX is really interested in producing a new Max movie, they will do it, even without Gibson's contribution. They know that there's a community of devoted fans around the world. The problem is film piracy. The studios lose much money because of that. They're forced to make films for a large audience, including children, to show a profit ...
I could probably make it on my own, but I like you kids.

Having been married for 11 yrs and having been back in the dating pool for 3, I've always been amazed that the sequel to "What Women Want" hasn't been made yet.

"What Women Think They Want"

"What Women Thought They Wanted, But Now Don't"

"What Women Now Want, And Are Mad About Because You Haven't Read Their Minds"

Geez, all the hatred for Gibson. Sure he's getting old, but I still love the character he embodied.

Prospects of Mel Gibson returning to the screen in his Mad Max persona faded today (Tuesday) when Daily Variety reported that the actor is in talks with Warner Bros. to star in Under and Alone, about an ATF undercover agent who infiltrated a motorcycle gang. Gibson had originally intended to shoot Mad Max: Fury Road in the southern Africa country of Namibia in May but halted preproduction citing security concerns following the outbreak of war with Iraq

As for hatred,

Damn you Bush, I want my Fury Road.

I still have hope though.
