Road rage: Mel Gibson as Max Rockatansky.

[/font]Mad Max vehicle comes to a dead end

THE long-awaited fourth Mad Max film, Fury Road, has collapsed after three years of development, costing hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Sets have been locked away in warehouses, the film's production offices have shut and the caterers have been cancelled.

It appears Mad Max: Fury Road director Dr George Miller has turned his attention to making the third instalment of the successful family movie, Babe.

Mad Max: Fury Road was due to go into production last July in Namibia, but was stalled because of security concerns following the outbreak of war in Iraq.

A year later, the $100 million Fury Road has been shelved indefinitely.

Miller said he could not move the film to Australia, where the previous three Mad Max films were made, because he feared the cars used in the new movie would become bogged in the Australian desert.

"Unfortunately, we won't be able to shoot in Australia, although I'd dearly love to," he said.

"We need some real big stretches of desert where the cars don't get bogged.

"Those deserts in South Australia would do, but it's not practical for the cars."

And, as for Mel Gibson, who was signed on to revive the role of road warrior Max Rockatansky, well, his enthusiasm for the project seems to have waned in recent months.

"I'm too old and I can't deal with the action stuff any more," he said. "It's getting to the point where they'll start calling it Fat Max."

Miller has apparently written and illustrated a 400-page storyboard/comic book of the proposed film.

The original Mad Max, released in 1979, was filmed outside Broken Hill for $500,000 and returned more than $100 million at the box office.

It's over.

And some of us even knew it long long time before that article would appear on the wall.

It's better not to touch a perfect trilogy, at this point.

Yeah, maybe it is a good idea, just to leave it alone.

Be better to explore other idea's and adventures in MAD MAX spinoff COMICS and NOVELS, like STAR WARS, and the ALIENS' have.

Well, Now that another, more reliable source than AICN had reported, I'll consider it fact.

Very disappointed, to say the least.

But I think we're getting away from the true issue here..

And that is "Who do we Blame?"Image

Just kidding.

We could blame Gibson for getting too old to be comfortable playing the part or George Bush for.. well, just being a Bush. (Voting for the Other guy even though he's a dork)

C'est la Vie.

Like I said. Disappointed, but I've been far worse in my lifetime. I'm sure I will again.

Sorry, I'll have to dissagree with you there, Bubba.

The American made GODZILLA movie deserves that title.

Apparently Gibson is looking for a new audience and more ponderous roles a la Marlon Brando who make you forget that he once was a good-looking guy. I mean, who wants to see junk like Braveheart, Leathal Weapon or Fury Road when real artistic masterpieces can be made ...

Sorry Foxtrot but that isn't a reliable source. Every sentence in that article has been culled from production references from almost the last three years. The writer of this article probably sat at their computer and did a word search on Fury Road and pulled the info from there. Its too wide and general and non specific in its reporting to be fresh. Its been over a year since the referenced " caterers" lost their contracts.

Beware of any newspaper with "sun" in their title, they usually print any crap to sell more papers.
