Darn close, but Nightrider's Monaro is a 72, not a 71. a few slight details are different. If you really want to do it up right, you'll need a 72. That's not to say I wouldn't give that one the MFP treatment.

The main difference being that the Monaro came in three variants. Monaro Coupe, Monaro LS Coupe and Monaro GTS Coupe.

The Nightrider car was a Monaro Coupe. The base model and essentially a two door Kingswood.

This is is confirmed by a number of details: The front guards are not 'gilled' as on the GTS, there is no evidence of a vinyl roof as was standard on the LS Coupe (although this was a rare delete option) the LS coupe also featured the twin 'Premier' headlamps but most convincing is the dash which is clearly a base Monaro version ... the LS was woodgrain with slightly different instruments and the GTS was fishscale plastic with a tacho (as on the ebay car but silver rather than red).

So to replicate the NR car you'd need to change the front guards, and retrim the interior ... the fairly horid red GTS interior would be no loss at all ... to rubbermats and plastic trim.

Hey Interdictor ... I reckon the NR car was an early coupe ... maybe a 71 ... as the seats had no headrests which changed in 72 to adjustable rests on all models. More often than not headrests are removed during filming to give better camera access but the seats don't have the two chrome rings that surround the rest mounting points.

These chrome rings are a detail. Lots of BoB replicas or Yellow Interceptors are not 100 % accurate. The Nightrider Holden is less well-known. That's not noticeable!

And when read that the owner sells it WORLDWIDE and when I see, that the engine is in a good condition (the pic with the Dynamometer) I'm asking myself if I should not bid ...

Hey Bubba

I wasn't suggesting that any replica had to be totally 100% film accurate. There is a message board for replica builders that has endless ... and sometime very amusing ... discussion about what is and isn't accurate ... about the smallest details ... even the experts disagree.

My point is simply to establish what was the original base car for the Nightrider ... not to make an edict as to what someone else should build.

I'd love to see a Nightrider replica ... as far as I can tell it'e never been done.

Hey, XA, there was also a 4 DOOR MONARO released, we got one living two houses down - don't look half as cool as the COUPE though.

The 4 door came later.

I recently sold a 72 HQ SS 4 door which Hilden released as a market tester for the 4 door Monaro. Exactly the same car but different name. Mine was a 253 4 speed (they all were) 'Infra Red' with black and houndstooth interior. A nice car but not a patch on the Cobra.

The one down the road is a bright red one, with a 308 in it. The guy also owns a big marone XD with a 351. I never understood how he could own two 'oposing' cars, since he's primarily a 'HOLDEN' man
