Mad Max 4 Not Happening
I am sure everyone has seen this but in a front page article in the USA Today, Mel Gibson says that there will be no Mad Max 4 due to "money issues". Oh well.

"Gibson says another page in the Mad Max saga 'was on the table at one point' but no longer, largely because of budget disputes. Instead, he says, he wants 'to take a little while and digest all this and see where I am.' "
That is indeed discouraging news.
But as I said in the other thread.. I'm too damned stubborn to give up.
*Wanders off to have a word with the man upstairs in the hopes of having him suggest to Mell that he really SHOULD do Mad Max Four....

Was this after or before the Miller interview, that would be the question, maybe its Fox's fault??I just would like to hear from Miller............Why doesnt the man came out and tell us what really happened....... also what does he mean with this 'to take a little while and digest all this and see where I am.' ". Is it a definite cancellation???

I know all this is really still up in the air, but right now I feel like punching Gibson right in the nose. Where's your loyalty man!? Do you really need more money? Sorry, but if he really walks away from MM4 over money, most all of my respect for him walks with it.
I expected better from you, Mel. You make me sad.

We live in a poor world without heros. Indiana Jones IV seems to be cancelled to. A poor world I say ...
I could probably make it on my own, but I like you kids.

I think when he means budget he probably talking about the budget for the movie, remember that Miller talked about in his last interview about the budget???i dont think this is about is salary.......i bet 80% right here that is Fox fault i mean these guys are well known for screwing things, just look at Alien 3 for example........

The less of a budget available, the better the film would be. It forces creativity. Oh, but Miller wanted a bunch of CGI crap.......Perhaps it's just as well. I'd rather see it not get made than be an over the top "Phantom Menace" crapfest. Hey, Fox and Miller, turn the project over to us fans. We'll get it done for a fraction of the price using old school techniques, and effects that (wonder of wonders) actually happen in the camera.
(blinks eyes open) Sigh, I was dreaming again, wasn't I?

Mad Max 4 Not Happening
Hello, I am new here and I don't want to rehash a topic that may have been discussed before, so please keep me enlightened. I get the impression that the major Hollywood figures (mostly Jewish) who make things 'happen' are very unhappy about Mel Gibson's upcoming film 'The Passion of the Christ'. So unhappy, that Mel Gibson had to go through a very small time distribution company to get his film on the screen. Apparantly the story and controversy surrounding this movie may make Mel a target in Hollywood. I suspect that unless Gibson himself finances another Mad Max movie it probably won't happen. This is why I personally don't like religious movies of any kind because somebody is always angry about something and the end results in everyone being injured in some spiritual way. This is actually one reason why I have always enjoyed the Mad Max films. They are very 'irreligious' and I still find it very appealing. I hope no one is offended by this post. It was written in honesty and is not meant to promote an anti-semitic or anti-religious position in any way.

I dont think that's the reason, probably Miller had a vision for the movie and it would cost more to Fox...........

Fox signed off on $180 million!! And that's not enough? Something doesn't smell right here......
And yes, under normal circumstances, Someone in Gibsons position could be hurt by the religious fallout. But Gibson is one of the very biggest names in Hollywood. I seriously doubt that it will in any way hurt his bankability. (especially considering TPOTC is predicted to open to a $30 Million dollar weekend. Those are #s hollywood likes to see, regardless of content or controversy.) No, Gibson is in a rare position in Hollywood. Like Spielberg and Cameron and a handfull of others, he can do just about any project he chooses. If Gibson & Miller really want(ed) the project to go foreward, It will (would).
