Why "Black on Black"?

Post by Redd4 »

Fellow Maxians: I've finally decided to ask a couple questions that I've been wondering about; if they sound stupid to you, please have mercy.

1. Why do we call the Interceptor "black on black", instead of just the "black Interceptor"?(as opposed to Max's Yellow Interceptor) I know that between MM1 and MM2 the interior supposedly changed color...is that why? But I've seen both 1 and 2 cars referred to as BoB...

2. How exactly does a blower/supercharger work? I gather that the scoop forces the intaken air somewhere, but why does that result in a lot more power?

I apologize for my ignorance, but cars really ain't my thing. Now, if you want to talk alcohol content, lager vs. ale, more hops or more malt, then I'm your man...

Really, thanks for any help.

the reason the interceptor is referd to as black on black is that if you look closely at the car you will see that it actuly has mat black black outs on the bonnet the same as the xb gt`s there for it has a black on black paint scheme

A supercharger is a huge box that mounts on top of the engine, and it has turbines and such inside that forces more air into the engine, boosting compression and making the engine gain horsepower. The scoop is on top of the charger to scoop air into it. The supercharger makes the engine more powerful because it forces it to burn a ton more gas and air.

the interiopr hasen't exactly changed colour in MM2. MAX has just torn out all the 'cushy' interior to reveal the black scratched up metal underneath.

Okay.. http://http://www.competitionplus.com/0 ... rgers.html for a nice article on Roots type superchagers (So named for the Roots brothers who originally designed the device for moving fresh air into mineshafts)

As the blower turns, the rotors catch your Air fuel mixture in the open spaces between the rotors and case.

The Airfuel muxture is then compressed in the intake manifold.

As you can imagine, if you increase the amount of fuel and air going into each cylinder, you'll also increase the amount of POWER the engine then makes.

The script for mm2 calls it the black on black. I agree it probably due to the matt black and gloss black paint job. look around the site in the files section for a drawing of the design.

Why, to reduce weight and hence improve fuel consumption?

Was the passenger door always strapped to the side of the door?

I assumed the seat was in the normal postion in MM1 and it was moved to increase space inside.

The car originally HAD a black interior, didn't it?

Look

http://www.madmaxmovies.com/cars/madmax ... Garage.jpg and you can see nothing but a sheet over the front seats.

And http://www.madmaxmovies.com/cars/interc ... /Front.JPG You can ALMOST see the color of the right front seat.

And in this picture http://www.madmaxmovies.com/cars/interc ... terior.jpg we can clearly see that the Seat is black.

Also, if you look at this http://www.madmaxmovies.com/cars/interc ... orsale.jpg is says in the third paragraph: "The GT Falcon has a four-speed manual gearbox and ten months registration and black paintwork and upholstery and if you are interested you can ring Murry Smith on _______"
