On the Beach
Have any of you seen the movie "On the Beach"? It might have inspired George Miller to do Mad Max. It could explain when it happens in relation to the nuclear war. In "On the Beach" an American submarine commander (Gregory Peck) docks in Australia after the rest of the world has been destroyed by WWIII radiation. Australia has been untouched and the war is over. The sub commander asks an Australian military person how things are and he basicly replies that things are normal but there is a shortage of fuel.

Was the film based on the Neville Shute book of the same name? If so, I'd love to see it. I quite enjoy those "awaiting death" kind of stories.
