The Lord Humongous= The Dark one?

I have had a strange and improbable revalation lately. We all know that "The Dark One" was mentioned in Mad Max. In Road Warrior I seemed to get the sense that Max recognized The Humongus. Maby, Humongus and the Dark One are one and the same.

Who's the Dark One in Mad Max?

Maxes' ex partner. on his yellow car it sez Rockatansky & the dark one. Yeah he quit the force and hit the weights!

Max recognized The Humungus because he was on his territory for a long time and already often saw him.





The Dark One is a completely different character, never seen in any of the mad max movies. He was in the script, but cut out before the shooting. The only allusion to him was his name on the left front door of Max's yellow Interceptor.

OK - the dubbing in o/seas markets is unknown to me, but the following text is taken directly from the Aussie DVD:


Scene - Jessie has discovered Cundalini's hand at the back of the van. Cut to the bronze in the car, talking on the radio. The hand is lost property. As Max, Jessie and the other bronze walk away towards the van, the bronze says to Max and Jessie " May is expecting you at the farm tomorrow......". the Bronze obviously knows who May is, and where the farm is. As Max's partner, you would expect that he knew a whole lot about Max and his family.


Cut to Benno, May, Max and Jessie in the field. Jessie is sh*t-scared, having just run out of the forest.. During this scene, you can clearly hear Max say " May, call the Dark One. Tell him to get here now.....". May obviously knows who the Dark One is as well.


I have always thought the Dark One was that bronze in that hand scene, talking on the radio. He is helping out his partner. He is aware of May, and May knows him. Max never refers to him as the Dark One during the hand scene, however the connection is way obvious imho.

In the past, it was also my opinion, but after reading Peter Barton's declarations about The Dark One in a earlier thread, I'm not that sure anymore...



Yes, Max is talking about his ex partner in the original aussie version (in the US dubbed version, his name is Ziggy) but not necessary about the black bearded fella with the blue hot rod, seen at May's farm.

I mean, there is no explicit mention of it in the script.



Anyhow, the guy would be a good Dark One ...

So, if the black bearded fella is the right man:



- The dark One is Max's ex partner

- Benno and The dark One are brothers

- The Dark One is May's son (not her husband as in the novel)

- The Dark One is Jesse's cousin



or...

- The dark One is Max's ex partner

- Benno is Max's brother

- May is Max's Aunt



or

- Jesse is May's daughter

- Benno is Jesse's brother



etc ...

my bet is the last one. Somehow i don't think Max and Benno are related. Can anyone read this script you mention?


I also thought that bronze would make a good 'dark one', with the black hair and gunfighter mo.

Its never clear exactly how May Swayze is connected to Max or Jesse.


She is not their mother, or she would be addressed as such. Benno is probably May's son . Neither appear to be related nor is May related to Ziggy/Bearded Guy, other that knowing of the local police.

i just wondered, that might be an interesting plot device. Max is forced to kill the partner who desterted him when he needed him most.
