Anklecranker: I used to watch all those shows when I was a little kid. I built all the models of them I could get...still have a few. One of my dad's buddies, actually bought one of Sonny Pruitts KW's from the show and ran it on the road. He had it for probably 15 yrs after that, put something like 2 million miles on her, and went through 3 engines/rebuilds. I wonder if it's still in Colorado Springs, Colorado? Cool truck: Forest Green with white stripe and chevrons, completed with gold pinstriping.

I loved those shows too. Amazing that you got to see one of these trucks. At the time ,all I wanted was a Big Rig and the open road...... just a kids dream.

Going to Ford 100th?

Anklecranker: Yep! To live only 20 miles away, and not go...I'd have to as crazy as Johnny the Boy. I need to take a Qualude because I'm so excited...apesh#t's more like it...about getting a 73 Fairmont (courtesy of Phil @ Aussiecoupes) to drive on the power tour and go to the show. My dear sheila will be here about April 15th. I'm having her dropped off at work...it's bound to cause a stir with all the gearheads around (big arse smile)!

As far a movie/tv vehicles, I've seen or been in:

BJ and the Bears KW Aerodyne, Movin' On's KW (rode in it), KITT , the 54 Futura Batmobile, one of the original 285 General Lees was in Denver, another was at Autorama. Kinda neat stuff.

When I was about 7, I wanted to be a trucker like my dad...complete with a dark purple and chrome Pete 379 conventional with dual stacks, 2 horns, 2 whip antennas, a doublewide sleeper, and an airconditioner (that was my ideal at the time). He told me that he'd kick my arse so hard that I'd taste leather and shoeshine for a week if I became a trucker...said it was too hard a life. So...I went into the automotive design industry instead 20 yrs later.

I'll be in dearborn for sure now, it's a done deal! Don't know if i'll be able to attend all 5 days, what with schedule restrictions, and don't know if I'll be bringing the Fairmont or not, dad's leaning towards just flying into Detroit as opposed to driving there. :( but you'll be seeing me fo' sure.

I have also recently been seriously considering getting a class A lisence (not necessarilly for OTR, but for more local driving) and would appreciate any input, pro / con on the trucking industry as a whole. Am I making a mistake getting into this field? I love to drive, and am mechanically knowledgeable if not inclined. But have heard some vague rumblings from different sources that Trucking is not a wise career choice. Opinions from the gallery?

Send in Ripley (Sigourney Weaver- ALIEN). Not only is Ripley more than capable of dealing with a little spineless dictator, but imagine the embarrassment to Saddam to have a big can of Whoopass opened up on him by a GIRL!!!
