Deleted scene. Where was this footage shown?

Okay, so its common knowledge to fans this scene was filmed and like 2 seconds appeared of it in the opening montage of Mad Max 2. But there are coloured poor quality stills taken directly from the scene itself which is more than shown in Mad Max 2. Where did this footage come from? I take it, given its poor quality, it came from a 80s or 90s documentary, either about Mad Max in general or perhaps Australian cinema. Anyone have any clues as to where these images were taken or where the clip is? Cheers.

We can see the color footage of that shot in a special trailer edited for distributors in 1979.
I saw that video once, but I don't have any copy... so I can't be 100% affirmative, but I'm pretty sure about that.%

The Max by the river still is from another shot and it's a picture of the shooting.

Cheers for that. You wouldn't happen to know which trailer or such it was in? I am suspecting perhaps the original Japanese trailer. I have seen a second or two of an original Japanese trailer existing in an old George Miller interview for MM2. Would like to see where this footage exists.

I think you can find the japanese trailer on youtube, but it wasn't that one. It was a special trailer, longer, edited for the distributors' eyes only. I saw it when I came in Australia for the first time, Peter Barton showed me that stuff on his laptop. If he didn't, I wouldn't know it ever existed.
From my troubled memory, I can say we could see that famous "river footage" and the Dale Bensch's stunt was longer... But it's a little bit blurred in my memory...

(about trailers, the US radio trailers are quite fun: they recreated some dialogues, very funny stuff. You can find them on this famous 7" that you can find time to time on ebay)
