Seems like an innocent tweet about being scanned for Mad Max 2 by Avalanche Studios in New York may have announced we're getting a sequel?

I don't recall photogrammetry being used in the previous game nor actors being scanned. Seems to note this was before Covid too.

I really hope it gets a sequel! It really deserves one. Though I would hope it would be less of a collect-a-thon and more things to do outside of conquering repetitive camps. I felt there was more they could have done with the player vehicles. Anyways I hope this is still on the horizon!

Re: Mad Max Sequel Game possibly in development?
I am hoping to hear something, one way or another by this summer. Yes I know E3 is not a thing this year and may never come again but that doesn't mean that there are no big shows by the big 3 coming. But my gut tells me we'll have radio silence and hear nothing till closer to the release of the the next mad max film IF anything is actually being made.
I've heard stories from difference sources from the inside. I don't entirely like what I hear of the behind the scenes production of the first game and what WB supposedly did to George Miller out of pure spite. But I also can't bring myself t hate the game that came of this choas and termoil. I wanted more with this last game and sadly we never got it. But what I constantly see, at least on facebook, is people who are just picking the game up for the first time in 2021 and loving it and much of the fandom also seems to say, again on facebook, that they want another game.
I think one advantage of the ending of the first game is Chumbucket is dead. I don't entirely hate the man but after so many personal playthroughs I don't like him. I get why he was there he was no different then a warboy in his devotion to the V8 and his own creation in a world where most people are lucky to own anything. But after a time I couldn't stand him and was glad he died with the magnum opus. My hope is they listen the community and craft things that build on what the game did right while working out the kinks of what the game didn't do so well. I'd also love to see past movie dlc's and maybe even a system, like in the old days, where if you have a mad max save on your system then maybe you can unlock some special rewards or maybe past rewards.
For me not a lot was all that broken with the game so I just want more but better if it's possible. I guess we'll see as this still hasn't even been confirmed to be in active developement but one can always hope. I am sure WB wants as much money from another mad max outting as they can possibly get. I'd imagine a game would be one such way to have that. Or you know go all in make new toys and see if mega construx would make lego like sets for mad max. I'd be down like the consumer whore I am.

Re: Mad Max Sequel Game possibly in development?
I think that there is a good chance we might get a proper Mad Max game to go with Furiosa this time around but under a few conditions.
2 years to develop should be just enough to bring in something decent to the table but the thing with George Miller is that he treats games more like an extension of movies rather than just mindless fun. He's a big fan of what Hideo Kojima does with games and also Corey Barlog - in short - narrative driven games.
For that he'd need a really compelling story to go with the game and I'm not sure if he's got anything like that to go with the movie. I think the film itself exhausts her story enough. I mean we're talking about the mother of all side stories - 20 years of a single character's rise to the point of being in another story. Where do we go from there? A game that shows what happened after Fury Road? The Citadel farming simulator?
Another option would be to make The Wasteland game as a tie-in to Furiosa. But I think it would be a waste to turn that story into a game, that story deserves to become a film.
Of course they could make another standalone game that's disconnected from the movies as per Mad Max supposed tradition where no continuity ever matters, they're all mythical campfire stories blah blah blah. I hope they don't go that route this time. There's too much worldbulding set up by George to ignore it like that.
I'm also wondering what the situation between George Miller and WB is at this point. Fury Road's creation was hindered by WB's decisions so bad we're lucky the film got released in its current form, let alone the fact that WB basically controlled the merch, which is why we got next to no goodies at all, and the ones we got were meh. But things are now different, WB is under a more understanding management and the weight of Fury Road's success definitely helps in giving George free rein to do what he wants with Furiosa without much interference. But ultimately this is the business side of things so I'll remain skeptical about the whole ordeal.

Probably should of came back to this thread earlier lol but it’s all a false alarm. The original images were taken in 2017 I believe during Rage 2’s development. So sadly no new Mad Max game is on the horizon.
