Would love to be wrong but I don't see it getting best picture; too populist, too scifi. Yes, Lord Of The Rings & Gladiator show that there is a small chance but I think FR is just too left field. If it was to win, it would be a revelation.
Not that it means anything, but Quentin Tarantino said Fury Road was the best film he saw in 2015 (though he apparently didn't see many anyway).
“I got a print of ‘Mad Max’ on 35mm and I watched it in my house. And I had it all weekend, and I ended up watching it three different times," he said. However, he did admit his reluctance at first to watch the movie at all, given the new casting of Max Rockatansky.
“I resisted seeing it, for a while, because I was like, ‘Mad Max? Without Mel Gibson? Forget that.’ In a world where Mel Gibson exists, how can you cast Tom Hardy? Then I saw the movie. ‘Okay, it’s terrific.’ And he’s pretty good in it, I have to admit,” he added.
Fury Road leads all films in the number of wins from critic groups.

The Producers Guild has chosen Fury Road as one 10 nominees for the PGA's best film award. This is possibly the best indication to date that the movie could be nominated for a BP Oscar.
