An amazing video comparison of FR and the original trilogy.

Post by tehCal »

Holy crap, look at this! I never realised just HOW faithful Fury Road is to the style and spirit of the original trilogy. Camera angles, visual homages, throwbacks, certain stunts... some references were obvious, but I can't believe how many subtle ones there were!

Wow... those Immortan/Toecutter and Immortan/Wez shots are unbelievable! That scream! And when he sees them running and turns around - it's frame for frame the same shot!

Also, the author missed one of the more obvious:

That was amazing! I knew a lot of scenes looked familiar when watching.

That was absolutely amazing. This just shows how much references to the old movies George Miller has included in FR. Let alone the ones we didn't noticed yet. He really is the master in movie making.
"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.

While I'm sure we're all long term fans of Miller here, we seem to get borderline sycophantic at times.

There's a whole team of people who make up the little components here and they deserve acknowledgement - from the make up artists to the director of photography. Plus we've seen interviews were Miller himself has been surprised at how much has been repeated in Fury Road.

It's a great analysis and compilation, but to assume there's some kind of dedicated homage is a bit schmaltzy at best. A lot of this is either trademark moviemaking, logic, or repetition.
