The Refinery - Issue...
A guy on IMDB:
"Did anyone else notice the huge gaps in the fortress? From the outside the tire made fortress looks solid but from the inside you can clearly see that there are huge holes in the walls everywhere. Actually there are no walls at all in many places. Why didn`t the bandits attack the fortress from the back? At closer look i saw that there were a pit surrounding the fortress that might give some shelter against the bandits but still I just have to wonder that was this really how Miller wanted the fortress to look or was it just a mistake..."
What do you think about?

That is what we call "movie magic". You should know that
If you look closely at the compound from the areal shots with Max wounded on the gyrocopter, you can see the back of the compound isn't protected in any way than a dry mould you can walk right trough.
A real 'warlord' would surrounded the compound and would find the weak spots this way. In the movie they only attack from the best defended front.
Older movies: focus on one point. Otherwise it will to be expensive or complicated.

"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.

Could they just be continuity errors?

I've always assumed the compound was on the brink of being taken over.
That said, the more I've watched Road Warrior, the less secure it's seemed.

Re: The Refinery - Issue...
Was the back defended by the "moat" anyway? We should pretend it was dangerous for the Dogs of War for some other reason.....
I also remember there were back walls when we see the aerial shots from the Gyrocopter????
My theory to fix this:
The moat in the back was MINED. Anti-personnel mines. They knew that. BOOM! Perfect.

There was also razor wire. So yes, add in mines and you have decent defences ... the school bus etc all left through the main gate, so presumably that was the only place safe enough.

Would the people in the refinery be Pappagallo's family or Seven Sisters employees? Or both?

I vaguely recall that the backstory was Pappagallo worked for 7 sisters and knew the location of the oil pump. As for family or other employees cant recall on that one.BRC1974 wrote:Would the people in the refinery be Pappagallo's family or Seven Sisters employees? Or both?
Id imagine he wouldve collected a few refinery workers he knew and their families in order to escape the big cities... on their way to "paradise" 2000 miles from here

Yeah, original script actually describes an opening scene of Papagallo in an office, gathering up maps and materials and rushing to escape before it's impossible.
