I liked that too, not because of background lore but just in general as a game mechanic. Many games have those sort of limping states but they are only when your health is very low. In Mad Max they take the approach that a large fall causes some limping regardless of your health level. It's one of the neat little details.

Overall I'm not super happy with it but it's OK. Little details like that, I feel like that kinda thought didn't go into the main elements of the game.

The stuff about women in the game, reminds of that thread I started awhile back where I claimed the overwhelming positive response to the portrayal of women in Fury Road would lead to bashing of any future works that don't do the same. Told ya so! Heh, I'm kidding, actually people here are saying that Kotaku and Polygon do that all the time anyway so maybe it would've happened even if Fury Road didn't factor in.

I love how after a bad fight Max retains damage that even shows in cutscenes. During a trip to Griffa I had what looked like a couple swollen black eyes, a broken nose, and my shirt was drenched in blood. I never expected such attention to detail.

Fury Road style SweetFX preset for people who want to skip setting things up on their own:

You can really make the game look especially beautiful without killing performance.

It's no Fallout, but I am loving it. The car and max customisation is brilliant. It can become quite repetitive but the thought of re-acquiring the Interceptor and dressing Max in his original attire is far too exciting.

When you complete the main storyline the original Road Warrior style jacket, double barrel sawed off, and the Interceptor are unlocked. You can keep playing forever.

So the shotgun you used during the progress is different than the sawn off shotgun ?

What about that repair mechanic when you leave your car ? Can you still drive the Magnum Opus ?

Hmm, so the old storyline of getting back the Interceptor is still there. That's how they explained it very early on.

This makes me want to do the main story first then. In most open world games I do so much wandering and side stuff I often end up never completing the main story.

As far as I know (haven't completed the story yet so can't confirm with 100% certainty) the Interceptor is like one of the many unlockable cars. After it's taken and destroyed in the beginning it's gone. You only get it back as an extra for beating the game, along with the classic black leather jacket and shotgun.

About the shotgun, you start off with a single barrel sawed off and upgrade more barrels and effectiveness as you progress through the game. The classic double barrel shotgun is another separate extra after beating the story.

Anyone want to share their opinions of how it controls on PC? So far I've only played it on PS4, haven't redeemed the Steam key yet. With no karma system or branching paths or anything there's really no point playing it on both, I don't know why I ever thought there would be a point :).

Modding is another possible future factor to just keep it on PC, but that seems unlikely or a long time away.

I should have just kept the PS4 copy sealed and sold it, it's certainly worth much more than the Steam key since those were and still are available for very cheap. But I had friends over a couple times who wanted to see the game and it was just easier to hook the PS4 up to my projector and pass the controller around.

Oh on a side note, friends coming over to game has been a super rare occurrence for about a decade now, but for Mad Max they were willing :).

I've bought it for xbox one. Visuals are stunning, driving physics are decent. My only complaint so far is chumbucket. I don't really need a silly sidekick, too bad i can't shoot him.
