also bear in mind these awards are issued by people who have a very distorted view of what a hero is and of reality in general. :D

Max a classic Joseph Campbell archetype who sacrifices his own welfare for others is far less of a hero in there minds than say someone like Bruce Jenner who they would call a hero for coming out as transgender.
Step right up, chum, and watch the kid lay down the rubber road, ride to freedom!

If FR does not get an Oscar, I'll be very surprised. A movie that is so highly rated on IMBd and by all the movie critics. And look at all the fan art and whatever you see on the internet. I cant remember a movie that has done it on a scale like FR :D
And if all those practical stunt don't get an Oscar over all those completely planned computer generated stunts of other movies, I'll be completely out of words
"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.

Unfortunately to date there is no stunt category or practical special effects category. They sometimes make special exceptions and unfortunately it's more likely to get visual effects nomination.

I didn't knew all of the different categories ;) But FR just deserves a shit load of Oscars :D
"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.

Aside from the technical categories, Theron might get nominated for best actress/supporting actress. There's been a lot critical buzz over her peformance and let's remember that she has won an Oscar before and so would be familiar to the academy voters. Also Sigourney Weaver was nominated for Aliens, which is certainly not an 'Oscar' film either, despite how brilliant it is.

In the end FURY ROAD surprised almost everyone.

I have a feeling that we will witness another surprise in February at the Oscars ..!

I think the movie has a great chance of being nominated for one or more of the categories. As far as Best Picture, it should definitely be nominated because the movie is brilliant but the people who are on the Board are older and more conservative. They like to nominate obscure films with a lot of dialogue and sentiment. The movie should definitely be nominated for cinematography, sound, sound editing, editing, costume design, and makeup. If the movie is not nominated for anything, I will NOT watch the Oscars. Last year's show was awful.
