Unless I have eyesight as good as Coma - Doof Warrior's I havnt noticed anyone say about the arrow shot at Max could be a reference to Wez at the start of Road Warrior. Max even removes it himself with a simple tap on People Eaters Merc.
Pray hes out there!!

After the storm, Max walks to the War Rig carrying Nux and dragging a door from Nux's vehicle because a metal chain is connecting Max to both Nux and the door.
In Mad Max 2, Max used a metal chain to connect The Gyro Captain to a large piece of wood. When Max left the refinery with the diesel and high-octane gasoline, Max found The Gyro Captain dragging the piece of wood.
The heavy use of spikes on various vehicles may be a reference to the movie Doomsday that was based on Mad Max 2. Doomsday's vehicles had many spikes.
The ending of Mad Max: Fury Road may also be a reference to the movie Waterworld. After helping the Atoll survivors find Dryland, The Mariner returned to Waterworld.

Re: HEAVY SPOILERS ! references to the old movies
The scene when the People Eater takes the wheel of the Mercedes from his driver to run over Valkyrie is reminiscent of Wez taking over the dart gun to shoot at the Warrior Woman in "Mad Max 2."

Artist Brendan McCarthy had said the spikey vehicles were a nod to another Australian film called The Cars that Ate Paris.
I believe he designed these vehicles long before Doomsday even came out.

The shootout scene with the bullet farmer is a lose reference to a western with Clint Eastwood and Shirley Maclane called "Two mules for sister Sara"

The masked attacker is essentially a copy of the Bearclaw Mohawk.
Removes a projectile from his shoulder (like the Bearclaw) and makes his way to the cab to do some damage. He is the main threat to the driver of the War Rig just like Bearclaw was to Max.
