Now that you mentioned it, you're right it was resembling the marauder's camp in RW more. I immediately thought of Max eating dog food though because the first thing I noticed was some food frying there too.decosabute wrote:I had been thinking of the biker camp as well, but was going to say it reminded me more of the marauders camp in MM2 with everyone skulking around when max comes back with the Mack truck.Taipan wrote:Whew! I just finally saw the movie, so much to take in...
Here's a reference I haven't read here, unless I missed it.
The bikers had a little makeshift camp up on the hill as they were observing the approaching shitstorm. Kind of like Max's camp on the hill where he was observing the attack on the compound.

This may have been mentioned already, though I didn't see it in my quick scan of the thread, but People Eater's 'Polecats' reminded a lot of toecutter's gang pole vaulting onto the tanker to steal gasoline in MM1.

One more:
Organic Mechanic reminded me of the mechanics from RW and MMBT. Organic's demeanor is laid back, he even calls Immortan just 'Joe'. All three of them (paraplegic, french singing & organic) are well affiliated with the people in power and even crack jokes at times.

Oh yeah !! I remember that one. The white out made the headbutt felt so "in your face".taybo wrote:Not sure if I even saw this right but when Nux headbutts Slit the screen 'whites-out' for a split second like when Wez headbutts the compound guy in MM2
Will all of these reference, i'm starting to think if Miller did them intentionally even if he said not.

The "white out" effect is used by a lot of directors. James Cameron used it a lot in Aliens. Every time an automatic weapon fires there's a white screen shot put in between rounds going off. If you watch the special features he explains this. It just intensifies the scene.

Oh man, me too!CriticAndProud wrote:Yeah, I was absolutely stoked when I saw that.Lonewolf wrote:Who else saw the footage (perhaps even 1 or 2 frames) as Max has his sleep in the war rig and remembers the past, you see the bulging eyes footage of The Nightrider and The Toecutter from the fist Mad Max? I liked that a lot and wanted maybe one or two more of that. But that is quite a nice little insert included in the film. Who else saw it and got a rush of excitement.
Re: HEAVY SPOILERS ! references to the old movies
Probably mentioned but I'll mention it. When Imorton Joe looks in his treasure room for his brides, he is confronted by an old woman pointing a double barrel shotgun at him and subsequently misses her shot. Much like May did with the Toecutter in Mad Max 1 when she helps Jesse to escape and finally misses her shot when she tries to stop the Toecutter and his gang from getting Jesse.

When one of the marauders jumps onto the War Rig he is holding a shield made from a Give Way sign , the same one Charlie shot at in MM1
Quinton is seen on a push along rig that is similar to the one the disabled guy uses in MM2

Sorry if this has been mentioned, but when Max goes and blows up the Bullet Farmer and it is left ambiguous how he did it, that reminded me of Johnny The Boy's ambiguous fate.
