Fact is, when the Apocalypse happened in "this" world, civilization was far more advanced than the one Mel's Max was living in as cop...

But I don't think it's really any different aside from having more time passed. Also the thing is that the reason guns and munitions are likely more prevalent in Fury Road is because of the location in the wasteland. In that "hub" you've got the Citadel that is harvesting and farming all the water and possible plant life and then the neighboring tribes of Gastown, which is an old refinery derelict started back up to produce guzzoline, and the Bullet Farm which is another tribe that's focused on collecting old shells and casing along with manufacturing munitions. All 3 tribes formed a coalition to trade their stock with Joe seemingly on top because he seems to have the bigger fortress, army and most important resource.

On the other side of the coin and using the video game since it's canon with the movie, in that part of the wasteland where the game takes place that is far away from the Citadel and Bullet Farm but close to Gas Town..there are no guns and ammo in the region just an abundance of fuel and what weapons there are just crudely manufactured ones or limited munitions in the form of Thunder Sticks from Bullet Farm.

Aside from that though it seems one of the big questions Miller has and seems to be asked in Fury Road is....what else is out there. Are these people and tribes the only ones left or is there more survivors or remnants of civilization out there?

Thanks for the info.

Yes, it's always been interesting to me in seeing more of the world. I would love to see what's going on, if anything, on the highways and what are the cities like? I could always play Fallout 3 like lol

I hope the movie shows his driving skills and not his fighting skills. He's a road warrior for god sake's.

The Interceptor seemed to looked out of place when you compared them to the War Boys vehicles, and with all the guns and bullets making appearance, his car would have been destroyed the moment he ran into one convoy of enemies.

I've always felt that when studios release highly spoilerish clips like these, it's usually a sign of desperation. Boxoffice.com currently has MMFR tracking @ $38 million, well behind Pitch Perfect 2 @ $45 million on opening day weekend. With Avengers 2 still going strong, MMFR looks to open in 3rd place domestically, with a cume that will top off at about $125 million.

I imagine WB will be looking for the international box office to pick up the slack.

Even though those clips have been released, they don't seem to be heavily advertised by WB at all. In fact none of them are featured on WB's Youtube & haven't been mentioned on the official FB either. Those videos have only a few thousand views each on some relatively obscure YT channels. WB would act desperately if they indeed featured those clips officially. It almost looks like those clips were released without authorization.

I don't think so at all. They must promote a very unique movie, and nobody remembers or knows Mad Max among the new generations. It's something new and weird and unique, if you know what I mean. They are doing great with the promotion. Smart moves.

I think you don't need to worry, this is going to be a huge release, both in the States and especially World Wide.I see it as a final nail in the coffin of Matrix-like action movies. After Gladiator showed us it's again ok to have historical setting, Batman Begins showed it's again ok to have non-gravity defying superhero, Fury Road brings back real stunt action in style, and then some.

So, If history taught us anything, brace yourself for torrent of postapocalyptic movies in following years. It's not like it never happened before.

That's not good box office business for a movie that's cost north of $150 mil, although I'm not disagreeing with it. $38 mil and then keep halving that every weekend following is how this usually works. Heading into the summer now, every Friday is fresh competition. Max is going to have his work cut out for him to make magic numbers.
