So Mad Max 2 isn't post nuclear? Oh I thought I was wrong. Of course the wasteland pictured in Mad Max 2 was just an attraction for tourists just before the ending of the world came for us all. Yes of course, Humungus and the Marauders from the Wasteland were casting members for a Show, then suddenly came the real chaos in Beyond Bartertown. Oh, I'm sure now: Only Bartertown showed us the ending of the world. I don't agree. Only the first Mad Max was aired in a chaos world before the ending that has been described at the beginning of Mad Max 2.
I could probably make it on my own, but I like you kids.

BTW, that interview was conducted after MMBT was written.
Sidney hasn't been nuked, but its sea vanished anyway for global climate change. A nuclear winter happened. There's radioactivity here and there. Australia looks way more desertificated (see Crack in the Earth). Dr. Dealgood talks about "hard rains".
A nuclear exchange happened.

Mostly important, MM1 is pre-war, MM2 is post-war. As simple as that. Two years are a WAY TOO SHORT TIMESPAN for all the changes which occurred inbetween MM1 and MM2. Sorry, but the 2 years timespan and the notion war happened before MM1 are two ridiculous concepts.

Are you kidding me? I just showed you a direct quote from the creator of Mad Max explaining clearly that the first two movies aren't post nuclear and you still persist on your own theory?
Yes the nuclear war happened but it was AFTER MM2.
I could post an entire interview in which Miller explains how quickly the changes occurred in that universe (3 years btw according to preamble) but I'm seriously not sure if that would get to you anyway since you dismissed the idea of the man himself.

The creature goes beyond the creator.
I like this discussion anyway!

Ok then, good luck with your fanfiction!
Come to think of it I should make an actual timeline of MM movies given that I do have the stuff to back it up with.

You're welcomed. Try. But you will discover Savannah's TELL, Feral Kid's memories, Max's age throughout the 3 movies and many other details will force you to place the nuclear exchange before Mad Max 2 and after Mad Max 1.
Mad Max 2 depicts a world where the apocalypse happened years before. Not many years, even.
Mad Max 1 depicts a world where the apocalypse is going to happen, but society is still in there.

If a nuclear barrage occurred between MM1 and MM2 then how would Max and his Interceptor survive such an event?

Taipan that interview looks like a great read and it'd be interesting to see more!

Miller also talked about the sexuality of characters and how it all became interchangable. There's a lot of insight in that interview, also a bit of backstory to Humungus (which I also have in another interview, slightly more detailed which also explains why his gang was a bit military oriented).

Because the nuclear barrage involved other nations. Only few Australian cities were hit, maybe two. BY THAT TIME, Max was already in the Outback. The nuclear exchange happened after some years of war. Many had time to go into the Outback, which became the so-called "Wasteland".
